I am thinking about building a freebooters themed dread mob army and I have a couple questions. First, is this even possible, I mean can the Freebooters have a Dread Mob? Second, how would I paint something like this, would they all be different colors to show the disorganization of the Freebooters? And lastly, has this been done, I tried searching google but came up empty handed, if this has been done can some post pictures of it for me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

That's a fairly specific theme, but not one that's bad at all. And freebooters are just Orks who are selling out/pirates. Hells, in Rogue Trader there was Zogrod Wartsnagga (an epic model!) who led an army of freebooter Kommando Gretchin! So, personally, I think that sounds cool.

As for colours, who gives a damn what you choose! I imagine freebooters as still being a clan, so having a more unified scheme, but in the whole galaxy there will be a huge variation in the style of the raiding Orks! A lot of freebooters are Bad Moonz, (they accumulate great wealth through raiding), which are a yellow based scheme, which looks STUNNING when done properly.

A swarm of yellow Dredds and KAns sounds awesome to me!

This sounds like an awesome idea.... and if I didn't have like 2k points of ork conversions already planned i'd be stealin' it

As for ideas, well it makes me think of;
Gurren Lagann!

But overall you could quite easily make them look like walking boats not sure if that's what you'd want to do, but I certainly would

As for colour schemes, I say go with whatever you fancy, in my ork armies I often do whatever scheme comes to mind, it generally helps represent the ragtag-ness of an ork waaagh and the flocking of various warbands who are all just lookin' for a good brawl.

Thank you for all the kind words, I just thought of the idea as I was paging through the codex. I am going out today and buying a Mek Boy and converting him into my version of Buzzgob.

get a combe, roll GS with it to make meka-tentacles. They work really well

Just so you are aware, since the units in the dread mob or IA8 are factions ork, with the new codex you don't actually have to use the IA8 setup. AKA, you can use them as units in the new dex, so you could run the horde formation while putting mega-dreads, meka-dreads and grot battle tanks into the slots.

So unless you specifically want buzzgob you dont need him to field dread mob units. Just something to be aware of
