Grey Knight Brotherhood (Bare Bones) 2045 points
185 Grandmaster
150 Brother Captain
150 Brotherhood Champion
110 Strike Squad
110 Strike Squad
110 Strike Squad
165 Terminators
165 Terminators
165 Terminators
130 Interceptors
130 Interceptors
110 Purgation Squad
110 Purgation Squad
125 Dreadnought
130 Dreadknight

WORTHLESS! It's over 2,000 points without any upgrades at all, and once you start giving the necessary upgrades, it gets up to 2,500 points really quickly. Who has time to play a game that size, even if half of the units in this Formation weren't handycaps.

Grandmasters and Brother-Captains are fine for survivable Warlords, but they're over-priced, and there definitely is no reason to ever have one of each in your army beyond just wasting points.

Brotherhood Champions are drastically over-priced for their limited ability to affect the game.

Strike Squads are inferior to Terminators and Interceptors in every way. Taking Strike Squads at all is a handycap to the army.

Purgation Squads are like Strike Squads that can't Deep Strike and are allowed to take up to 4 useless Special Weapons in their 5-man unit (Psilencer will likely never deal an unsaved Wound to any multi-Wound enemy, the Psycannon can only be fired on the move from within Charging Distantance, yet it prevents the unit from being allowed to charge, the Incinerator only has a ~8.5" range, which means they'll never live to get close enough to their targets to use them).

Dreadnoughts are over-priced, being charged 25 points for Chapter Tactics, which are free to the other Space Marine Chapters. They're also extremely fragile in the current meta due to the plethora of Melta, Plasma, and Haywire currently in the game.

The Terminators, Interceptors, Dreadknight, and possibly the Grandmaster are the only good units in the Formation. Everything else is just a tax, completely counterbalancing any benefit they'd have from using the Formation (Harnessing Warp Charges on a 3+ is really good, but having over half of the points in your list being on expensive canon-fodder for the decent units is really bad.)

Does ANYONE feel differently about this Formation?

It seems like it's a little bit of everything from the codex, and I'd never field it. I still love grey knights but like the rest of the codex its neutered. I just field terminators, interceptors and ndks these days.

It an example of an actual Grey Knight Brotherhood, of which there are 8 in the Grey Knight chapter. It's fluffy, if useless.

Its for any fluffy bunny who wants to play an Appoc game using an entire GK brotherhood.

Its not meant to be used for anything approaching competitive play.

Even if it's supposed to just be fluffy, the Codex outlines the exact composition of each Brotherhood on page 15 of the Codex, any of which could be accurately represented with Combined Arms Detachments and/or Nemesis Strike Forces, and they'd be much Fluffier than this generic nothing of a Formation.

There's no reason to add a Formation that wouldn't likely even hold up in friendly games. This Formation is even bigger than the ones in the Apocalypse book! The Grey Knights should have had smaller Formations like those in the Necron Codex.

GW did not produce anything new with the 7th Ed GK codex, other than to update the rules and strip out the units they felt didn't need support. As in, they F'd up.

Thankfully, 8th is right around the corner.
