I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now, probably ever since I first saw the Brass Scorpion model from Forgeworld.

With the new Dunecrawler providing parts, at last I have everything I need

so without further ado, here's my latest and easily my favourite conversion!

I like praise

you guys aren't the first to suggest a tutorial.

It's not a particularly difficult conversion, most of the work is the green stuff piping (for which I use a tube-maker tool)
You could easily use guitar-string coils or third-party pewter pipes or whatever you like. I just used the tools to hand

Basically, it's a Helldrake body, just the two main pieces and the two plates on the shoulders.
glue the two front legs into the foremost indents, glue the back two legs into the middle wing sockets, add greenstuff piping to hide the holes for the other sockets.
The gun mount is this weird piece I can't seem to identify. a block with a piece of curved piping sticking off one side. I think it's a marine or guard piece...the gun itself is a Triarch Stalker gun, plus the barrel of the onager's neutron laser attached to that.
The face is triarch stalker optics and a twin linked heavy bolter off a baneblade kit. add a couple of the onager servo manipulators or use whatever comes to hand to give it the gribbly face
The top of the carapace is the mounting parts for a Manticore Missile system, I made a deathstrike and had a few parts left over
A few bits and bobs here and there, and a heck of a lot of piping and it's done!

Very nice! I think it would work great as a regular (non-dark) Mechanicus model just as well as a Dark AdMech model. It brings back the Blanchian creepiness to the AdMech.

I'm currently looking at/for models to replace the Onager so your model is great inspiration.

Thanks!

That is freakin' awesome. I was expecting something kinda "meh" when I read the title before opening the link.

Well, I was wrong. This blew my mind. I love it, and I sincerely hope you'll post up army shots as you complete the force. Freakin' amazing I say!!!

Just a quick update, I've finished the second Daemon-crawler!

On that note, I haven't quite decided what to call these yet. Most of the possibilities so far have sounded...silly.
Hellcrawler, Daemoncrawler,
Mangonel Hellcrawler amuses me enough. maybe that...but suggestions are welcome!

Might have to do something like this, i really like them. I used the helldrake chassis to make burning chariots for my chaos daemons, and these would fit in nicely as allies.

I think the lens work could use some improvement. It's still a very flat green. But as for the conversion work... It's amazing. It looks like an actual model designed to be that way. I guess now that Games Workshop has finally produced Ad Mech, we can start petitioning them for Dark Mech!
