I been playing 1 game a week with daemonkin since it was released and I cant decide on if I like the bloodhost or not. Im a pretty big fan of cultists and the forced non cultist troop tax + the possessed tax is a bit much, I can't decide if its worth the free blood point. Any other Daemonkin players wana put in their 2 cents?

It really depends on what you will be taking on the field but I prefer going CAD so I can get my heldrakes without the raptor and warp talon tax.

Not having a slaughter cult can be upsetting sometimes since you don'g get that extra Blood Tithe ability for free but I think it is a fair enough trade off to take whatever you want rather than be dragged down with taxes. Also annoyed me that Land Raiders were not any where in that Blood Host Detachment.

I only play casual games but thats what I have found.

The extra tithe ability can be nice but it only affecting the slaughtercult kinda killed it for me.

IMO it depends on what you want to run. If you want to run a bunch of soul grinders (3) and flesh hounds and bikes (4 each)...similar to how I like to. Then the Bloodhost is pretty good. It gives some nice bonuses. Bloodletter units are actually decent MSU scoring at 8 models and the possessed are decent when you add a rhino and use them to deny slay the warlord (make the champ your warlord and hide them in reserves). Since I like to turn my chaos lord into a DP and gets a couple of blood thirsters with him he always dies.

Melta bikes, soul grinders with torrent, and dogs are all excellent units. I find my opponents are usually so pressured that they don't get a chance to target my bloodletter and possessed units.

I roll on strategic and all of those work well.

The funny thing about this army is that your champs being forced to challenge is actually a good strategy as you get nothing but benefit from it as they; 1) die gaining a blood tithe, 2) win gaining blood tithe, 3) opponent denies challenge and looses attacks and Ld from their character.
