Nice work with the Viet Minh using ex soviet gear. I read stories about how under equipped they where, had to make up for it in the enemies gear along with some ex soviet stuff. A real hodge podge of weapons got used in the end. Cool models.

Nice game too.

There was a lot of up close and personal fighting! Jungle fighting at it "finest".

Most of my games with my French and VIetnamese are just prolonged bayonet charges and burning jungle with both sides suffering massive casualties. Which is usually how a good war game plays.

That is what I suspected.

May I humbly recommend trying out Force-on-Force for your Vietnam gaming pleasure?

Will it transition well to the 46-54 era?

There is a Vietnam War expansion but it is focused on the American part of the conflict.

Yes, it covers post-WWII (and I would say even WWII) really well. The focus is on Troop Quality instead of gear. However, some people don't like the variable dice it uses and have a hard time wrapping their head around the Action/Reaction system. I happen to love it.

I think it also deals better than most wargames with insurgency forces vs. regulars. I think this would fit very well with your Viet Minh vs. French games.

I love that you are going Indo-china War rather than Vietnam. It is something we frequently hear/see little about.

People give me a lot of crap for playing it since it has to do with the French but what really got me started was that i saw the minis on redstar's page and i couldn't resist buying them because i thought they looked so good. You aren't kidding about not seeing or hearing about it a lot, I've bought a couple of Osprey's books to help give me an idea but there aren't a lot of figs out there that are armed the way i want them. Most ranges of vietnamese are armed with AK-47's which they wouldn't have in their war with France and like wise i cant find a lot of post war french figures. They aren't featured in this last battle report but i used warlord's USMC to convert a bunch of guys to be french troops armed with French weapons.

I'll do some looking around at the force on force stuff, I'm sure theres reviews and batreps galore i can use to get an understanding and see if i like it or not.
