I will start by saying I am FAR from being anything resembling and expert on 40K lore, let alone Eldar lore, and army I don't even play. But why is there no Phoenix Lord for the Warp Spiders? If anything the scorpions should be the ones without a lord, seeing as how, as I understand, thier's became Drahzar. What vital peice of fluff am I missing here?

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

Not sure. I havent read the new lore, But I believe Eldar have not even said anything about it. Like one of those things that GW just left alone.

The closest the warp spiders have is the wraith spider/lykhosidae? Not sure on the spelling. It only appeared in one novel I believe

Because GW can't be assed to make new phoenix lord models./Doylist Answer.

No theirs is Arhra, Father of the Scorpions. He fell to Chaos.

I've been playing Eldar since 2nd ed and cant recall there ever being a WS PL. There is/was a standard exarch model though.

Whether Arhra became Drahzar or not is a subject of quite a lot of debate.

It's fan speculation because GW provided no concrete answers.

I believe they suggest Arhra is Drazhar in the DE codex/es, though I sure they also suggest Karandras killed Arhra in a codex, or at least Karandras hunted him down

Well in the book "path of the Incubus" They kinda cleared it up.

The Shining Spears have a small mention somewhere that their Phoenix Lord went missing a long time ago (Horus Heresy?) after downing a Slaaneshi demon that took out Asurmen.

Although there is inexplicably no mention of that happening to the Warp Spiders exarch, I speculate it was something similar: going missing at some point in the distant past for some unknown reason. Although that doesn't leave us much better off than before.

He is missing, one of the many parts of Eldar culture that has been lost.
The Shining Spears and Shadow Spectre Phoenix Lords also used to be missing. Who knows, GW or FW might make a Warp Spider Phoenix Lord one day.

I pray for a warp spider Phoenix Lord! The warp spiders are one of my favourite aspects.

Of course the Pheonix lords all need new models as do all the damn aspects barring Dire avengers. Striking scorpions are relatively new too and certainly look less static than most of the others. Hawks are the ugliest IMHO.

It'd be cool to get one, along with resculpts of all the others and the Aspects, along with the Shining Spear lord.

That being said, maybe he popped though the warp to grandmother's house, and didn't come out again.......

My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

Warp spiders never have had (in game) a PL.

Given the nature of their gear, it is assumed he was "lost" during the small warp jumps they make - and no-one has found the armour yet to bring him/her back.

They DO need a new sculpt (or at least more options for the exarch - instead of the same tired old poses that go back 20+ years. Come on. EVEN jetbikes finally got new models. And so did the wraithguard.

He mis-happed a deepstrike and is forever lost in the warp which is why no Eldar has ever found his suit to don.

That's the theory C.S. Goto ran with when he wrote Eldar Prophesy. One of the plot arcs in that mess was the rebirth of the Warp Spider Exarch, Lykhosidae, through a prophesied hero who entered a frenzied dance of wraithbone-web-spinning that culiminated in him forming the armour of the Lykhosidae anew and being immediately subsumed by it, while still retaining his own body and mind to direct the 'new' Phoenix Lord against the hereditary Farseer that ruled his Craftworld. Who was not a Psyker, incidentally, and WAS a Slaaneshi cultist.

^ Yup, that's pretty much why no eldar player uses his books for anything approaching "fluff".

Its also why I look at people making Multilaser jokes and shake my head in despair. If only they knew the truth depths of the horror...

Don't forget Eldar abandoning Wave Serpents for abandoned Leman Russes due to their "superiority" and greater protection. Or using human weapons because Eldar guns are weak and barely damage anything.
