Hey all, I just got a game in against the new codex and wanted to do a batrep. My opponent doesn't like all the D weapons in the codex, so he didn't bring any Wraith constructs. He instead goes for psychic domination and a good mixture of Guardians and Aspect Warriors, and in general a whole ton of dakka. We played Maelstrom Mission 4 using the Adepticon modified tactical objectives cards. Deployment was Vanguard Strike, no Night Fight. My opponent's Warlord trait was to get Preferred Enemy to most of his units so long as he was in range of Guardians. Mine was to re-roll FNP rolls of 1 for Talos and Cronos units; less than helpful. My opponent won the roll for first turn. I'll complete this as I complete the photos, so check back occasionally and give me your feedback on tactics and lists! I can approximate my opponent's list, but here they are:
Eldar List
Spoiler:

Eldar Deployment
Spoiler:
Dark Eldar Deployment
Spoiler:
There's another Raider with Warriors farther to the right off-camera. I fail to seize the Initiative. This is going to sting.
Eldar Turn 1
Spoiler:
Aaaaaand here comes the boom. Almost everything jinks while he lights me up. I was fortunate, however and my Night Shields saved the majority of damage. I thought the Raider closest to the War Walkers was going to wreck, but I thought he might take the bait and go after the Grotesques or the Court; no such luck. Luckily for me, it only wrecked and didn't explode. A few other HPs were stripped off a few other vehicles, but otherwise I'm still mostly intact. Phew. I made a tactical error and placed a Raider and a Venom close enough to hit both with his Shadow Weavers. Luckily for me, he only stripped one HP off the Venom that couldn't jink since he wasn't targeted.
Dark Eldar Turn 1
Spoiler:
Not much shooting going on here. I drew a few numbered Objectives, and could steal one or two from my opponent. So the vast majority of my stuff Turbo-boosted onto Objectives, and I racked up 4-5 points right away. I took a potshot with a single dark lance at his Vyper Squadron, and my opponent thought he'd be tough and take it on the chin. Boom went the Vyper. My Court fired their Shardcarbines at the Guardians closest to them, and the Venom snap-fired at them as well, killing enough for a morale test. My wrecked Warriors shot at another squad of Guardians, but only killed one or two.
A better shot of the aftermath. The Guardians run off the board!
Turn 2
Spoiler:
OK, so I got a little too into the game and forgot to take a pic until we finished turn 2. In his turn, his Falcons came in. All units disembarked. The Falcons exploded the Grotesques' Raider near them, but didn't hurt them. One of the Fragon units fired at the Venom near them, but it jinked away the damage. The other Fragon unit with the Autarch (lowest in the pic) exploded the Raider near it, but the guys inside managed to only lose one (?) and not be pinned. The Reapers fired at the wrecked Warriors near them, but between cover and 6+ FNP, may have only lost one. My opponent needed to assault 3 times to get 2 VP this turn, I remember. His War Walkers shot and assaulted the Raider and its contents near them. The Warriors actually didn't lose anybody during first round of combat, and I was hoping they would hold through my turn. Unfortunately , they died at the end of my turn, freeing them up to unleash hell once again. The two units of Guardians tried assaulting the Grotesques, and one of the units was wiped out. The other one got away. He racked up a good amount of points this turn.
Only one Razorwing and one of my Blasterborn came in. As expected, the Razorwings 4 Missiles crushed the Shadowweavers, killing one gun and all but the Warlock and one crew member. My Blasterborn stun a Falcon, forcing the squadron to jink. The Grots only manage to kill one Falcon as well. The Court hopped out and assaulted a unit of Fire Dragons, winning combat. However, the Eldar formation allowed him to re-roll his morale that he failed, passing the second time. My warriors on the bottom of the pic stayed put, needing that objective this turn; unable to hurt the Autarch with their poisoned rifles. My Raider on Objective 4 shot a Dark Lance at the Vyper, who jinked; it snuck through and Shook him. The Blasterborn's Venom whittled down the Guardians, who may have passed Morale. Can't remember. I was able to score quite a few points this turn as well, and am up slightly.
Eldar Turn 3
Spoiler:
The Eldar retribution is fierce. The Reapers do some work on the Grotesques near them, killing one and wounding another. The Autarch splits from the Fragons to go slaughter the Warriors on an Objective he needed. The Fragons themselves wound the Grots, but between cover and FNP they do no wounds. I again win combat with the Court and he again fails morale and he again makes it on the re-roll. Insane. His Vyper I think shot at my Raider, and despite snap-firing, I jinked to be safe, doing no damage.
The War Walkers wreck the Blasterborn's Venom, but elect to Battle Focus instead of assault. The Guardians and the Shadow Weavers, put some hurt on the Warlord's Grotesque squad. The Guardians then Battle Focus away from the murderous Grots toward Objective 5.
Dark Eldar Turn 3
Spoiler:
My other Blasterborn came in, the Razorwing did not. Damn. The Haemy/Grot squad walked up and assaulted the Shadowweavers, obliterating them easily and consolidating toward the Guardains. It took both units of Blasterborn (I think) to get the War Walkers down to one with a single HP. The Blasterborn's Venom shot at the Guardian squad, who again fail morale and flee TOWARD my Haemonculus. The Razorwing shot both Lances at the Vyper, who jinked; I missed one and failed to pen the other.
The Court's Venom snap shoots at the Fire Dragons, maybe killing one. The Grots charge the next Falcon, and I roll a pile of ones and twos for armor pen, literally doing nothing to it. The Court continues to slap fight the Fragons, staying locked in combat. Ignore the shooting line coming to the Dark Reapers, that's next turn when my other Razorwing comes in, lol. Despite this flank collapsing, I have been continually snagging objectives and stealing numbered objectives from my opponent, and am at this point up approx. 5 Maelstrom points.
Eldar Turn 4
Spoiler:
Fragons moved up and vaporized the Venom. The Dark Reapers shot the Grotesques. The Exarch fragged one of his own men shooting his Tempest Launcher "danger close" after an unlucky flip of the template. The rest of the squad easily finished off the Grotesques, however. At the end of his turn my Court finally finishes off the pesky Fragons and consolidates toward the Autarch on the Objective. One of the Falcons immobilized itself jumping onto the wreckage of his squad-mate.
Falcons snap-shoot at Blasterborn, doing nothing. Vyper shoots at the Raider near it, also doing nothing thanks to Night Shields. The Guardians rally but snap-firing does nothing to the Haemy/Grotesque.
Dark Eldar Turn 4
Spoiler:
The Court murders the Autarch in assault, and consolidates toward the Reapers but within claiming distance of the objective.
The last Razorwing finally comes in. It dumps all 4 missiles into the Reapers, and maybe killed two. Lots of good armor saves there. Blasters finish the War Walkers. The other Razorwing puts Lances into the Falcons, doing one HP and forcing a jink again. The Haemy/Grot squad assaulted the Guardians, and the Grotesque took two wounds in overwatch and was killed! Haemy does some damage, and the Guardians run away, but I fail to sweep them.
Eldar Turn 5
Spoiler:
Reapers shoot at the Court, but due to a combination of their higher Toughness and FNP, take minimal damage. The Falcons and Fragons fire up at the Razorwing, forcing it to jink but otherwise doing no damage. The Fragons then battle focus onto an objective for a point. The Vyper again shoots ineffectively at my Raider. Guardians again rally.
Dark Eldar Turn 5
Spoiler:
My jinking Razorwing turbo-boosts off the board. My shooting is largely ineffective, with the two units of Blasterborn doing nothing to the Falcons except forcing a jink. The Court and Razorwing do maybe one wound to the Reapers. Despite not doing much damage, I think I racked up several points again just via objectives. Though there isn't much on the board, what is there is planted firmly on objectives.
Turn 6
Spoiler:
Once again, I forgot to take pics after Eldar turn 6. His Reapers shoot ineffectively at my Blasterborn. One of his Falcons abandons its immobilized squadmate to Turbo-boost onto an objective. I think the other one shot at my super-jinking Raider. In my turn 6, my Razorwings decide to gang up on one of the Falcons, but do nothing thanks to jink saves. The Blasterborn may have finally wrecked the other Falcon. The Court does nothing once again to the Reapers. In a crazy twist of events, my Haemonculus tries to charge into the last few Guardians, and eats a snap-firing Bright Lance to the face and is evaporated. However, I continue to rack up points in this round as well, and the game ends. My opponent had First Blood, Slay the Warlord, and Linebreaker. I had Slay the Warlord only.
It ends up being a solid victory for the Dark Kin, who win by approx. 7 Maelstrom points!

Thanks! Pics are ordinarily a lot faster, though this was my first time putting in the movement and shooting graphics. What did you think? Pics or video better? And yeah i told him he could bring Wraith constructs, but I think he's as disgusted by their power as many of us are!

No the pics are much better. Stick with them, video is annoying.
Your opponent didn't get the best use out of his reapers. I'm not sure what he was thinking putting them in the falcon. That would be like putting devastators in a drop pod.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

I didn't think the Reapers were bad out of the Falcon, they are Slow and Purposeful so they can (and did) disembark and shoot at full BS (which was 5 thanks to Aspect Host). The only critique I had on them for my opponent was that he didn't take Starshot Missiles as well, which I always do when I field Reapers. Gives them much more flexibility for moderate points increase.
wileythenord wrote: Stick to pics, I personally love pic battlereports as I only browse at work and can't really watch video batreps.
Great job, I've thought about the court as an assault unit but never really tried it. I love the Sslyth for their flexibility.
Yeah I didn't think about it till after the game, but they caused the morale check on the first unit of Guardians that ran off the board, killed a Fragon squad in assault, killed an Autarch in assault, and whittled down a Dark Reaper squad by about half with shooting. Pretty boss.
