Hi all,

Apologies if this isn't the best place for this, I honestly wasn't sure where to put this..

I've recently been working on a Inquisitional Chimera, and thought I'd get some nameplates made up for it. After all, I'm sure the mighty force of the inquisition can afford to name their tanks (or so one hopes...).

In the past I've had some made up for another project, please see the photo below. Obviously I won't be calling my tank Katie, Cassie or Catherine..

Now, I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in some nameplates for their tanks. The plates are available in a range of fonts, and as long as I get enough interest, these are only £2.50 for a pair (unpainted) + postage. The company I get them from will also paint them black or red for just £0.50 a pair...

Anyone interested?

Lucas

why would you not call your tanks those names? everyone knows any vehicle or equipment is designated female names. i think theyre good but as i dont have any tanks i cant help you. also, i think they'd look better on steam trains, i think 40k tanks would have more of a scroll/banner style, the kind you see on shoulder pads etc.

I think it would be fine if they are available in that sorta gothicy look that 40k texts have.

Neat stuff.

Funnily enough, the original name plates are actually designed for steam locos.

I know whilst most tanks have their name painted, I figured it would be something different. I also can't imagine they'll be out of place with the raised inquisition details.

Great idea.

Looking at the boring old real world for comparisons, some military vehicles do have 'cute' names (typically names of family members, lovers, celebrities), others have 'scary' names (threats, boasts, macho nicknames), some have inspirational names (often slogans), and some just have boring neutral identification labels.

I can see the same happening in 40K, especially for IG/AM.

Colour me interested. What's the maximum length for a word/phrase?

Good point. And are multiple lines available, and is there a choice of fonts?

The costs I quoted above are for any width, as adjusting the width is an easy process and the supplier doesn't adjust the cost for this. "Cake" would be the same price as "Giant Siege Machine of Mars".

To answer the question on font, I know that Sans-serif, Gill Sans and plain old Serif are all available. If you have a particular font in mind then I can ask the supplier to see if they can manage it. I've found them pretty accommodating.

As for multiple lines, I'll email the supplier now and get a definitive answer on this.

I'd definitely use those nameplates. I think those name plates would definitely work in an IG mechanized universe.

Lots of crews of tanks, trucks, planes, and boats would give their mechanical beasts names of endearment.

As for buying these things, I would definitely be interested, I just need to go and find my paypal account which has been gathering some dust lately.
