Not focusing on brands or companies.
More on actual paint types, washes, metallics, specialist paints (mud, weathering etc).
I personally love metallics (leadbelcher, golds, bronzes etc), they seem to go on really well, good coverage and nice effects.

Can't go wrong with a good dark wash, they age basically skill in a pot.

I'm not a fan of metallics, especially 'brown' ones (bronze, brass, gold), typically I prefer to mix brown and silver to get gold rather then any gold paint I've tried.

interesting question...

can't say i have a favorite type of paint...

i enjoy painting with metals, but am itching to try NMM...

i don't use many pre-made washes straight out of the pot, but mix a lot with P3 Armor Wash, or P3 Flesh Wash, and the regular P3 paints, or just thin out the paint with water to make a wash...

i use P3 inks, thinned way down, for glazes...

i haven't tried any specialist paints yet, but really like the look of weathering powders...
i'd also like to try out some of the specialized base paints, and water effects...

there is so much experimenting still to try...
even after 30 years of painting, and 12 years doing this as my job, i feel like there is a whole world of painting out there still to try...
the only problem is that my queue is always full, and painting to deadlines, or clients' specifications, make finding the time to experiment very difficult (i know, First World problems, right???)...

since i feel like i finally perfected the GW method of painting a few years ago, i have been playing around with taking my style to the next level, with more subtle and technically difficult paintwork, instead of GW's very simplistic, unrealistic style...

long story short, the humble regular pot of P3 acrylic paint is what i'm all about...
figuring out what i can do with it, instead of buying all kinds of specialized paints, is pushing me constantly to be a better painter...

cheers

My favorite as got to be Silvers

Got to agree with the Agrax Earthshade. I look forward to slopping it all over my lovingly basecoated models.

My favorite combo has to be the triad of GW Leadbelcher, Agrax Earthshade and Necron Compound Drybrush.

Instant weathered metal and fast! For clean metal, swap our agrax with Nuln Oil.

The key I've found is to dilute the washes a bit so they don't stain too darkly, but still have enough pigment to create grime and shadows. Going really light from one direction with the NC Drybrush finishes off the effect.

This is the only thing I look forward to painting on my mini's

I like Liquitex artist paints, for good pigment and long shelf life.

I agree leadbelcher is a fantastic GW metallic.

Nuln and earthshade washes do make such a difference.

I am beginning to shift to buying \ mixing for airbrush and either spray or brush paint with them. Makes me used to a set consistency.
