So there's a "news" thread under News & Rumors posted about a month ago, but it doesn't say much beyond the possible contents. I tried to wade through the thread, but it descends into long discussions of balance and such and quickly got painful to read... And so I wasn't able to glean anything helpful out of it. And of course the GW page is not helpful.

I play Kings of War, but have always been Warhammer-curious. If the rules are getting an overhaul, maybe this edition is the time to check it out?

Perhaps we just don't know anything yet, but I thought I'd try a few obvious questions in case they're buried in that News & Rumors thread:

1. Do we know a tentative release date? I'm assuming no, not even close.

2. Are all / most / many of the factions really going to get cut? Do we know which ones?

3. It looks like the bases are now round. How much do we know about the scale of the battles and the model number to get a good game going?

Thanks all.

I play...

Sigh.

Who am I kidding? I only paint these days...

We know nothing bar the rumours, which you've read in that thread before the random discussions kicked in.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

Thanks, thought as much. That thread wasn't too well summarized in the OP, so I was hoping I had missed something.

We know zilch. Zip. Bubkiss. Save for the fact that 9th is PROBABLY going to arrive at some point this year...probably summer.

Everything else is pure speculation though, and whatever kernels of truth may be in there are so buried in garbage as to be useless. It's simply too hard to tell what is made up, what is misinterpretation, and what is almost-but-not-quite what will actually happen.
