It looks fun. I am already thinking that the Pegasus w/interphase cloak and Rudolph Ransom is 27points with a possible 9 defense dice. But unless we want to invest some serious points for weapons I don't think it will do much besides not die so quickly. But could be fun to annoy people with.

This going to be a fun thematic ship. I am planning to get it the day it comes out, next Wednesday by my local game store. Pegasus and the timeship for sure. Avenger will probably wait on, maybe as my entry fee for some OP.

Ok 11 defense dice 1 BS conversion and two evades a turn. It would have 0 attack. But can you kill it?

The magno charges could be a problem, but I believe you can still use evade tokens against them. So if all 3 hit they could do 1 damage a turn. The tac drone isn't all that scary on average he will land 4-5 hits with 2 evade tokens a turn the Pegasus only needs 2-3 evades on 11 dice. I'll take those odds. Borg missiles don't pose much of a threat. They don't do real damage just destroy active shields and give 1 Aux token. If the Pegasus is cloaked already the missiles can't destroy any shields and I'm sure the Oberth will have a few green maneuvers do 1 Aux isn't s biggie. The phase cloak limits you to green maneuvers anyway.

Minefields, Gelnon, and Data from the Sutherland would be the biggest threats. The tacyeon detection grid would be bsd news too.

Eric Motz is a cheap tech slot for romulans using exchange program or even just as 3 points cross faction. I also like this Riker, he has potential. I can't think of any captians that have cool effects and disable, not off the top of my head anyway. Riker would allow you to take the buff and still have a respectiable skill for the shooting phase, I'll have to look at alot of captians.

I wonder what the rules for escape pods are? I thinking if you rescue them you can use them on that ship, maybe?

Find out tonight I guess, i think it should be in.

There seems to be more and more cards coming out for ships with low Hull or Primary Attack Value. This seems like a... I don't know. Poor restriction on bigger ships? Obviously, I wouldn't want to see a Galaxy class ship with +1 shields and +1 Primary Attack value (I think there was a maneuver card recently for small ships as well?), but on the other hand, making a 20 point ship take 10 points in upgrades to be somewhat equivalent to a larger ship... makes me just want to take the larger ship.

Wizkids made a mistake in allowing ships to have more than 5 attack dice. Even now, 6-8 is pretty easy to achieve, and there are 10+ dice attacks out there if you play the right ships/cards. They try to mitigate this somewhat through defensive dice, but you need 3 defense dice for every 2 attack dice to have the same chances of canceling a hit. To my knowledge, there are only 2-3 builds that have 6+ defensive dice. Cloaking is a joke- you trade shields for Crits. We have few one off, throw away cards that reduce damage (interphase generator). Spending an action for an evade is poor action economy. Reinforced Hull/Armor/whatever was a great card until it was nerfed.

The idea of spending points to make smaller ships equivalent to larger ships is a good one, but it just seems easier to buy the larger ship and upgrade that one. At least you wouldn't be chasing after OP Ships and buying other ships just for one card to make your 3/2/3/2 ship into a 4/2/3/3 or whatever ship.

Basically, Wizkids needs to start coming out with better defense cards to withstand the 6+ dice attack. Otherwise, we will continue to see ships with Hull+Shields > 7, and no smaller ships (maybe one to fill out a fleet...). Those cards need to be for the smaller (Hull + Shields < 7) ships.

Yeah Motz is a nice tech slot. Better than Torres for Feds, because lets face it most of the time she isn't used for the weapon slot. Also even with the faction penalty he is cheaper than T'Rul for Romulans. T'Rul is very thematic but 1/3 of her abilities don't work for Romulans 3 points would have been better for her, but hey she can still hang out on the Valdor from time to time.

With Gul Madred and Tantolis Field lurking around corners baby face Riker could see some play. Captain skill 5 is nothing to sneeze at when Picard is carried off to count the lights It will be a tough toss up between baby face and Hood Riker.

I think your confusing the Specialized Shields from the Pegasus with the Systems Upgrade from the Hood. System Upgrade adds a shield and a tech slot and a ship can only have 1. There is no restrictions for hull, so you could see it on a Galaxy class. The Specialized Shields gives are reroll and reduces damage from obstacles and mine fields.


I get what your saying about WK giving too many ships 5+ dice. 5 should have been the top. We didn't see ships being one shotted in the show to often, but it happens too much in the game.

I do however like the upgrades that come with the Hood. They are priced just 2 points for a stat increase. Increasing shields is nice, especially with flagships going away for OPs. The Type 8 phasers is great because it is restricted to ships of primary 3 or less, going from 3-4 dice helps a lot. I think the upgrades will give new life to some ships we don't see much on the table. I can't wait to put them on the Defiant. With 4 sttacks an 5 shields it will finally be the tough little ship we saw on screen . I also think Captain Kirk will be acquiring these for the 1701 and maybe the Equinox too

Wait, you can only have one Systems upgrade per ship? I thought they were non-unique and didn't have a limit?

Correct they are NOT unique, but the card text says that a ship may not have more than one. So you can have multiples of it in you fleet but only one per ship. Same goes for the Type 8 Phasers, though I beleive the Systems Upgrade also says that it can only go on a Federation ship.
