Ghastly Grave Guard

Canada

Hey guys, I've recently discovered a local gaming shop right around the corner from my work. Unlike my local GW, it's open later so I can actually get to it after work and have a game. On the 16th they are having a tournament that I want to enter. Only problem is I haven't played a game during this edition yet and all the armies I have are "suboptimal" or "low-tier." I already have quite a few forces so I'd rather not splash out on Tau or Eldar. I'm also looking to do ok in the tourney, so some help with tactics, unit selection and all would be much appreciated. Here is a list of my armies and roughly what they contain:

Crimson Fist Space Marines: Pedro Kantor, Captain, couple of Techmarines, lots of Tac Squads with basically any options, a small Scout Squad, 2 Sternguard Squads (1 plasma, 1 melta), a Termie Squad, 2 Dreadnoughts, 4-5 Rhinos, 2 of each type of Predator, 2 Land Raiders, the bigger flyer, Bike Squad with grav

Imperial Guard: CCS, enough Guardsmen for 2-3 full Platoons, lots of various HW Squads, a couple Veteran Squads (Kasrkin models), 1 Valkyrie, 6 or 7 Leman Russes of various stripes, 3 Sentinels

Space Wolves: Wolf Lord, lots of Blood Claws and Grey Hunters, Long Fangs, Drops Pods, Rhinos, Predators, Bjorn, Wolf Scouts, WG Termies

Orks: Warboss, Big Mek, some Meks, Mad Dok, regular Pain Boy, tons of Boyz, 20 or so Grotz, loads of Nobz, 3 Meganobz, 4 or 5 Trukks, 10 Flash Gitz, 12-15 Burna Boyz, 12-15 Lootas, 12-15 Kommandos, Battle Wagon, Deff Dred, 3-4 Deffkoptas, some (older style) Bikes

Chaos Space Marines: Plenty of Marines, the CSM Chaplain guy, Cultists, Rhinos, Predators, Vindicator, Chaos Termies, Hellbrute

Obviously I'm going to need to buy some more stuff and get it assembled in time so that does play a part in my decision. I'm basically looking for which force tends to perform pretty well and which units and tactics to use with it.

Well, with your orks you can't go wrong with a green tide, a warboss with lucky stikk, mad dok, and perhaps another warboss with killy klaw.

Imperial guard if you ally in dark angels with azrael are nasty.

Aftermath can be calculated.

Those armies arnt sub optimal, they are all mid tier easy ( could be argued with chaos but thats not here or there) personally i would make a crimson fist list, take pedro, go unbound, drop pod all the Obsec sternguard you want haha just use those tac squads as sternguard

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

You're missing Tankbustas. Gotta have them. If you buy one pack of 5 and have some boys with rokkitlaunchas you can easily have 15.

15 Tankbustas are great in a battle wagon with a nob upgrade with bosspole. The battle wagon has at least 1 rokkit to help not be immobilized by a weapon destroyed result, up to 4 with or without a killkannon depending on if you want to use them for tank hunting or armor 3+ hunting.

You could also do 3 units of 5 Tankbustas in trukks each with 3 bomb squiggs. Trukk has a rokkit. Not worth the points for nob bp upgrade.

10 Flashgitz in a battle wagon. Run forward turn 12" to gain good board placement, snapfire turn 1. Your opponent is welcome to then laugh at your choice of heavy support. Turn 2 fire at bs4 into a unit they like. With 30 shots at s5, rerolls if you get a good AP with your ammo runts. The laughing will cease. You could also choose to move the vehicle 6" dismount 6" then fire at bs5, and charge with 4 attacks each s5.

Boys, are good in groups of 30 with slugga+choppa nob+bp+pk. Or in groups of 12 in trukks with slugga+choppa, with a nob+bp+pk. Or in groups of 20 with Shootas and big shootas with nob+bp. They have obsec, and are great at close combat.

Meganobs in groups of 3 are amazing. I prefer them with killsaws in a battle wagon (w/1rokkit and a boarding plank) I generally put them with mad doc or a warboss in mega armor with da lukky stikk. Aim them at large mobs of Necron warriors or TAC Marines or guard blobs, and cackle maniacally.

Mek guns are awesome! Take 3-5 Kustom mega kannons or lobbas with ammo runts. 1-2traktor kannons is also cool. Buy the extra crew throw a mek with them.

Last edition I used 15-30 lootas power game. This edition they have sat on my shelf. I find them unreliable at best and with Flashgitz getting so much cheaper I can't see fielding them. But tons of people love them. They are s7 ap4 d3 shots. So if you want give them a mek and place them in cover, they might get a kill or two for you.

I loved burnas last edition, this edition I can't find a use for them with the Nerf to flame throwers. Shelve them in my opinion.

Nobs are overpriced. For 18pts you gain a boy who had +1init,attack,str,wound. But for the same price you could have 3 boys... Which adds up to 3 wounds, and 12attacks and you can't be doubled out by s8, because they are 3 separate models...I just can't justify nobs anymore without wound allocation shenanigans which we can't do anymore.

Stormboys are fun if you like fast attacking boys. I take 30 with a nob +bp+pk and zangstruk with a pain boy on a bike who can keep up to give them feel no pain. Tactics: Stretch them in front of your whole field giving all your models a 5+ cover 4+ with night fighting. Move them forward 12", turn 2waaaagghh! Move 6" run 2d6" charge 2d6 inches. Boom!

Warbikers are amazing! At 18pts each they are a lot of fun. Armor 4 t5, with s5ap5twin linked assault3 dakkakannons. Taken in a group of 15 gives a great gun platform. 45 shots. Give them a painboy on a bike and a bikerboss with da lukky stikk if you want to do assaults or Gazbags Blitzbike with a gitfinda if you want to be shooty, and bosspole for either way you load them and call it good.

Big Mek I put mine on a dark angel's bike with a shokk attack gun with da lukky stikk. Rerolling hits with your gun Wounds with it and saves of you mess up... Pretty amazing. Get a gitfinda if you have the points of not, it's no big deal.

I've already told you where to put your warbosses and how to equip them above. Biker, or megaarmor are the ways I run mine. If you run a formation called the green tide give him the big boss pole and eavy armor pk if you want.

Alright buddy, anything I didn't mention I don't use much to include the single deffkoptas people think are good. I own 2 planes but I only use them in friendly games. And then I only run dakka if I have infinite waaaaaghs or blitzabomma if I don't. Hope this helps.

This is unedited from my phone, please excuse Swype.

Oh, and choose orks.
