Very simple question:

What prohibits an ork trukk from taking a deffrolla, and if it can, can it use it?

Not being listed as an option for it is the first problem.
The rest is irrelevant.

Trukks may take equipment on the ork vehicle equipment list. Deffrolla is listed

In the ork codex(trukk pg70) there is not alot that is specifically cited, grots, extra in the armour, red paint jobs etc...

Deffrolla is NOT listed under the ork vehicle armoury. Its an item that needs special permission in the unit entry to take is like the battlewagon and looted wagon do.

Bolg, I don't quite follo, it is listed on page 99 and on the reference sheet. So how does a trukk take a red paint job following your line of thought.

You might be looking in the wrong spot. Lookup the pg number for the Warboss and then flip backwards one page, you should be using the Ork Vehicle Equipment list that is in that section on that page, you might be reading the full (EDIT, description of) equipment list and it isn't intended to be where you pick gear from.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

truks cannot take DRs. And since the DRs got nerfed (for no good reason) why bother even on wagons....

Thanks Rismo, that's the explanation I wanted to hear. I had a bozo try and put a trukk with a deffrolla on the table a few days ago. To which I said "hmmmm no" and he made the aforementioned argument. I know dang good and well deffrollas are a BW item, and not for trukks. Thanks.

Ceramice you should have let him keep the stupid Deff Rolla on the trukk, its a waste of points, its basically a Ram with twice the points cost :-P

Proposed new vehicle: a trukk with no troop capacity, but with the old-style deffrolla

Like an Ork version of a steamroller, except instead of asphalt it's people

The rules for the Looted Wagon came out before the Rulebook and I was supper excited they got a price cut and could be taken on LW's? Unbound Deffrolla wagons FTW? Alas, ridiculous unnecessary Nerf to DR's?!?!? Sad day.

However Wrecking Ball got a huge boost to its rules!! The Trukk is fast so you can get dirt cheap Str 9 attacks on anything you would have Deffrolla'd anyways. Check out what a Rokkit ", WB, Reinforced Ram Trukk can do for cheap!

Nothing because turn 1 it gets killed by a single Heavy bolter. or by Rapid Fire Bolters or by some eldar sneezing in its general direction.

I wouldn't say huge. You need to roll to hit with it (at BS2), so it's unlikely to ever hit anything.

Using Ballistic Skill for a wrecking ball seems funny.

D3 Str 9 AP 4 for 1/4 the cost of the old Deffrolla that can fire after moving 12" AND can snap fire at fliers? I'd call that a boost. Not saying it necessarily is better than Ol' Rollie but still a boost.

Sure but it's still better than the opponents being able to claim a cover save against the Deffrolla. Um, it's quite literally coming in contact with you, good thing yer in area terrain!

Have you never watched any cartoons or action movies where the character drops into a ditch or other convenient hole when they are about to get run over?

That's what area terrain is, filled with little spots where your models can take cover from incoming shots/have the rolla pass over them.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
