Hey gents (and ladies),
What's the scoop on your next rule-set? On several occasions I nearly bought the 8th edition (or whichever). Now I keep hearing all these rumors about round bases and radical re-fluff and maybe even rule overhaul. So I'm sitting on the sidelines for now. Is Gee-Dub gonna give you folks a new ruleset in June? Is that rumor consensus? I also heard in the digital whispers that some races are gonna go bye bye. Seems like yall have a crap ton... More than 40k even. So I should wait until June or is everyone saying feth it I'm going to KoW regardless?
I'm sure a mod will scold me for this question, but I just don't know any WFB players.... yet.

Everything at the moment is just rumours. Many people are saying that they will try 9th out, but continue to play 8th if they prefer it. Personally, if the game does move to a skirmish system, I'll just pick and choose between the two depending on what sort of game I'm in the mood for, exactly as I do now.

I think everyone is still in a holding pattern as we wait for word from GW.
Rumours point to the 13th of June, but there is also something about an Adeptus Astartese release on the same day in the N&R forum.
Rumours say races will be:
New human paladin/space marines in fantasy faction
The Empire (humans with dwarf and ogre allies)
Elves (all three in one)
Chaos (warriors, beastmen and demons)
Orcs and Goblins
Skaven
Lizardmen are rumoured to be completely gone (and did fly off into space in the fluff).
Honestly, I'm going to Kings of War because either A) it's becoming a skirmish game now and that's not what I want or B) it'll still be a mass battle game but I expect it to be even more bloated than 8th (or at least the same amount of bloat) and KoW is amazingly smooth and simple but tactically deeper than 8th.
Seriously, once you try a mass battle game where you don't have to stop and count every model in a unit in base to base, multiply that by how many attacks they have, add the second rank, check to see if third of fourth can fight too, check init orders, compare stats on not one but two tables to hit/wound, roll a save or two on top of that and then deal with the characters inside the units you don't ever want to go back.
Also, their world still exists -_-

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

Yeah KoW did seem simple. Theyre gonna make rules for the GW minis?

KoW 2.0 will feature army lists for all WHFB armies so you can simply take your WHFB models and immediately play a vastly superior ruleset.

That's what I'm doing.
I've spent quite a bit of money getting my army up to an enjoyable size. Now I wait and see if GW mess it all up, otherwise it is KoW and Warmahordes for me!
