Hi all,
I'm struggling to understand allies and force organizations. Here's the situation:
I want to play inquisition. Not allies, not scions, inquisition. The problem is that there are only 5 slots available, 2 of which are single models. So it's easy to max out slots and not fill up your points allotment. If I wanted to, could I extend my choices by taking a second detachment from the inquisition codex and get 4 HQ slots/6 Elites slots? Is this cheese? Is this frowned upon? Do my henchmen warbands get obsec?
Thanks, and sorry if this is too much of a derpy question!

Noobs have a force organization? (I couldn't resist)
Seriously though, I think the first sentence on page 120 and the Combined Arms Detachment figure on page 122 supports what you want to do.
"Cheese" and 'frowned upon' are subjective things. People either accept a challenge or not. Difficult opposition is more refining. The page 122 figure explains who gets the objective secured rule.
No problem as to your question. I hope people with more knowledge than me respond to your question. I am likely incorrect.

Objective Secured is a command benefit given by certain FOC's and formations. The Inquisitorial detachment does not get it as a benefit, the only thing they get is the Warlord trait reroll.
You can indeed take more than one detachment if you wish. Most organized events limit players to 2 or 3, and if you keep it under that, I can't imagine anyone making issue of it, especially considering that taking 2 Inquisitorial detachments is basically just 2 allied detachments, minus obsec.

You can take any number of detachments (formations, cads, or special detachments) for you army list. Points are your only limit outside of tournament play. Or you can even go unbound (there is a guy in my lgs that does this as an old inquisition style). You could take 20 inquisitorial detachments, if you have the points. My lgs is only friendly games. It just depends on your local scene on what they consider to be OK. Talk with them and find out. Technically an inquisitorial detachment only requires an inquisitor. So have fun with it.

Hello fellow Inquistion player, i have some bad news. GW never inteded us to have our own army. the inqisitorail detachment is one of the worst in the game. Its there to represent an inqusitor and maybe his retunue. Rarely would an inqusitor and his retinue take on a battlegroup by themselves. sure that might work in small games but in larger batlles an inqusitor would take command of some other imperium of man group's forces. You can play a battleforged army and still feel like its an inqusitional force. The stormtrooper codex works well for this. Forgeworld has made a red hunters chapter tactics that also works well to stay inqusition focused. I find the new space wolvesxare a perfect stand in for deathwatch, marines as you cam actaly make CAD out of a small number. Various imperial formations are also nice. The stormwing imparticular works well in 7th now that some henchmen can begin the game in the storm raven.
My group has been very accomodating and embraced my desire to play unbound armies. They have done so becouse my armies represent an inquistor pulling resources like only am inquisitor can. I have a handfull of units that i cant use unless i play unbound. Thinking of addind a couple more.

You can take as many Detachments with any amount of duplicates as you like, as long as Unique Characters aren't duplicated. But, let me offer some alternatives too.
Easy to make minimum Troop choices using Scion models with Bolters but using the Space Marine Scout rules and then Sternguard for Deathwatch. Or, Red Hunters are an entire Chapter essentially owned by the Inquisition. Same deal though. Take Red Hunter Troops and other selections, but Deathwatch style Sternguard.
Or, IA-4 has the D-99 Elysians. A special unit of Elysian Drop Troops specifically for the Ordo Xenos. Some fancy little options in their units there. That gives you the Retinue to actually be a Retinue and a main force of the actual army that an Inquisitor would bring.
