Just curious about how likely it is that Forgeworld is allowed at most tournaments? Should I assume yes or no?

Never assume. Most tournaments explicitly state whether they accept forgeworld models as simply stand ins, individual rules for models, or entire lists such as Armoured Battlegroup or 30K heresy lists

I find 99% of tourneys Ive seen in the UK allow at least individual models to be used, such as the sicaran, fire raptor etc. Fewer allow complete lists, partly because checking the lists for accuracy is a pain when youre looking up which specific rules a 30k Iron Warriors during heresy list has to follow...

Got it, thanks! But one unit is typically ok? Good to know. I was thinking of taking a dreadclaw for my Daemonkin.

As I said, very few places I've seen disallow single units, just not entire lists. So something like the traitors list from IA13 might be out, but an individual unit allowed.

It really seems like tournaments don't care anymore. Plus it's one of the only ways to make CSM playable without allies.

Usually, I've seen no experimental rules, and no 30k-only units.

I think the ITC format of allowable units is pretty reasonable, and specifically allows only certain superheavy/gargantuan LoWs: https://www.frontlinegaming.org/community/frontline-gamings-independent-tournament-circuit/itc-2015-season-40k-tournament-format/

Every tournament I've seen allows FW at 0-1. So you can't load up on warp hunters or sicarans but you can field one.

Where I go to play FW is allowed above 1250 points for tournaments. But it always best to ask the TO.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

Most tournys are ok with FW, but as the dreadclaw isn't a daemonkin unit- Definitely check with your TO.
