Hello all. Just noticing seeing an up surge of deep striking lists now with the E/DE archon/wraithguard combo and BA/Skit with massive deep strikes by them. So I'm trying to figure out some viable counters to such things.
Tau have an easy time with it as all there battle suits can be equipped with interceptor. However the rest of the armies seems to be lacking that option. Most options that I see with Interceptor pair it with sky fire which greatly limits its effectiveness.
Watch suggestions to people have for there armies to deal with such things?

It depends on the list and if they are using pods or not.

If you have something strong but very fragile (Vindicators for example), I tend to try and keep it in Reserves. Then when he's in my face, it can come in T2 and just wreck shop. This is one of the few non-Interceptor ways I've seen to stop Deepstriking armies.

Chaos have Cultists. Two blobs of 15+ Cultists/Mutant Rabble/Zombies will make a big circle of nope. Tyranids have Gaunts that do the same. Imperium armies have Inquisitors that have Servoskulls that make a spot of 'nope not even allowed to try'. And Inquisitor Coteaz in a squad of Plasma Cannon Servitors or Devastators can put significant hurt on anyone bunched up for Deep Strike. Wave Serpents and Tau Hammerheads and even Sicarans were usually placed with their butt to Impassable Terrain too or the table edge.

Servoskulls only stop Infiltrate and Scout, they do nothing to deter Deep Strike.
Coteaz's "I've Been Expecting You" rule measures 12 inches from his model, not his unit, so it's not nearly as good as it seems.
The Jamming Beacon on a Land Speeder Storm is ok for anything that scatters (e.g. Drop Pods) as it doubles their scatter distance. But you have to hope they scatter toward the table edge and still does nothing to Webway Portals.

Keep certain units off the board. Between the units you leave in and the ones you leave off, leave him with no options on target priority. When he DSs exactly where you force him to, bring the other units on/around and crush him.
Planning his moves for him forces him to follow your dance card for the evening or abandon his DS plans and run across the board like everyone else. As a dedicated, DS-with-every-army-I-play player, this is my personal advice on the subject. Hope it helps.
