Well lately in 40k I've been playing harlequins and loving them they are now my core army so I was wondering if there is a sort of play style similar to them in fantasy things I am looking for the aspect of simplicity put down the core things about the army in the following list.

Army name

Learning curve

Weapon type (duel wields, single weapons, fast or slow that sort of stuff)

Armour type (Heavy armour, Light armour, Shield dependent, no armour but relying like in 40k inv saves)

Magic type (Heavy Magic, Low Magic, Debuffing, Blessing or Damaging)

Army model count type (Many units or low units)

Special mechanic to the army that defines the army

How about wood elves? War dancer themed, supported by glade riders/Sisters of Thorn, eternal guard and Treeman. I don't have a clue about army play, just something that strikes me thematically similar. Fantasy can be very block heavy game, so I have no idea how viable could multiple small but fast units with few monsters be.

Wood elves would be the closest thing.

But right now don't. Wait for 9th edition & see what happens.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

That is absolutely the most important thing right now, the only thing we know for sure is that everything is changing.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

What's more, we can't even list the armies that will be in 9E, let alone their strengths, weaknesses, playstyles, etc!

Truly boggling times for the Fantasy player, these.

I am currently also waiting for 9E but I mostly just want a army just like my harlequins I made the mistake jumping in last time with my daemons (far to much book keeping) so this time to learn from my mistake before using the play style I've adapted by playing harlequins that is the play style I find more enjoyable.

Wood elves seem okey but I would have to modify there looks not a huge fan of nature but I can tolerate it

The units I like the looks of the most are

Lord or Hero :
Waywatcher Lord
Shadowdancer
Spellweaver with Staff
Spellsinger
Glade Lord with Bow

Core :
Glade Guard
Eternal Guard

Special :
Wildwood Rangers
Wardancer Command
Wardancers

Rare :
Waywatchers

As you can tell by now I enjoy small models not huge hulking models hence why I tend to avoid the big tree monster things.

You're probably safe to start collecting and painting some wood elves, even with 9th coming down. They would have to change the game DRAMATICALLY to make basic glade guard not a staple of the wood elf force. Two units of 18 with trueflight is pretty standard in a lot of lists, save those that swap them out for glade riders and go with the avoidance game.

Waywatchers are also amazing, as they chew through armour which always has been and always will be a big part of the game. A unit or two of these guys would also be a safe bet.

Pick up those units, a wizard, and a battle standard bearer and you're probably in a fairly safe spot. However things may change, youv'e got a core to a force that is quite mutable and can roll with whatever 9th throws your way. Better yet you'll be further along towards a painted army just as everyone is really geared up to play.

As much as everyone says "WAIT UNTIL 9th!!111one," keep in mind that if you DO want to start WHFB then you'll want to be set to PLAY when 9th comes out. Unlike 40k, there is a much larger distance between starting out and having a painted, playable force in WHFB.

We aren't even sure of that.

What is their biggest difference is their units Elves play style are much alike (and the shooting phase, in my opinion, is stronger with the bolt thrower of Dark Elves and/or High Elves, which is missing from Wood Elves)...

Correct The game may still continue the same with some changes on the rules... I'm not stopping buying and playing the game
