Just getting into the game and made this list basically on a whim, but to give me and idea of where to go as far as future purchases. Many of these decisions are based on models I currently have, and I am wondering about the general viability of the list. Any thoughts and criticisms are welcome. The models i already own and therefore would like to include if possible are 1 Vindicator, 5x Terminators, 5x raptors, a rhino and 20x marines. I would really like to do my troops as noise marines overall but I dont know about the viability of that. Also, the Lord will be attached to the terminators, and the sorcerer attached to the raptors.

I still dont think you have enough ap3 and ignores cover...

The land raider and the terminators take up too many points. Also the LR can only carry 5 termi models so your lord cant fit in.

Couldn't you give the lord a jumpack too?

Ideally, I would have gone with bikes instead of raptors.
get 1 squad of 10 bikers, 2 meltas, champ with combi melta and melta bomb and an Icon of Excess. Could opt for pow fist instead of combi melta and melta bomb as you get fnp and the bikes make you t5

I agree with what has been mentioned above.

The Raptors appear to be a high risk unit. The squad appears to be used against infantry or maybe even open-topped transports, but lack numbers to handle hordes or to make an Icon worthwhile that doesn't make them Fearless.

Noise Marines can provide the anti-horde firepower and contrary to weapon profiles, I consider the Blastmaster as an anti-infantry role primary, anti-tank secondary. I would take a unit of 12 with 2x Blastmasters, and some Sonic blasters to deal more shots. If you leave a few bolters in the squad, they can shoot first to clear models in the open, and then the Sonic weaponry clears those in cover. Also, you save some points to minimize the cost taken on your first few wounds.

I recommend: 2x Blastmasters, 6x Sonic blasters, 3x bolters, and the champion. CCW and Doom Sirens if you can spare the points.

if you take at least two of these squads, a Sorcerer with MoS can really improve their firepower. You could give him Terminator Armour as well to complement the Lord's unit. Despite MoS, you should have some Powerfist/chainfists to provide some punch that your LCs can't deliver, or just take Warp Talons to chew up whatever gets into combat with your Noise Marine squads.

Bear with me, still new at this.

So should I still run with 5x Terminators + the Lord, but swap out some of the LCs for a couple powerfists/chainfists? And nix the LR entirely?

And then modify the troops selections to look like the loadouts you mentioned Aurelian. Should I still put them in rhinos?

Swap the raptors for the biker squad. Would putting the sorc on a bike as well be viable?

Or should I attach the sorcerer to one of the Noise Marine squads? or just stick him in terminator armor and have him run with the lord?

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Whether or not you go with rhinos for your troops is up to you. This is a serious consideration though because it determines how your list will play. I personally like having 2 units of noise marines, both 10 man with 2 blastmasters. Nowadays in rhinos so they can capture objectives and shoot their weapons out of firing slots. I also try to take he icon of excess, it's great but those squads really start to get expensive. Sonic blaster last.

Agree with the bike comment. Slanesh terms are kinda a waste if they don't take power swords. More often then not that land raider will never make it to anything. The bikes add some needed mobility and cc to the list.

OMG, did you not listen to me? if you run 5x terminators then there will be no room for your terminator lord to sit! You have to reduce the terminator body count.

can always scratch build bikers.

Yeah, I said I was getting rid of the LR if I ran that configuration, but should I do that or would it be better to reduce the size of the squad so it can fit inside the LR? Are melee centric terminators viable without a means of transportation?

Or should I not run terminators at all and replace them with something else?

For now, reduce terminator count and use the LR as dedicated transport.

work towards biker or SPAWNS! spawns are easy to scratch build as there is no limitation or restriction. Make 15 of them without MoS.

Please check out IA13 for better land raider variants.

10-man "Rhino" squads shouldn't need many Sonic blasters as the focus is shooting the Blastmasters out of the top hatch. A Doom Siren could be useful also.

The limitation to Rhinos is that you'll have a slow advance with limited shots, while 12-man squads can sit in cover or move when necessary. They'll be exposed, though you could advance using a meatshield of cultists or spawn as Filch mentioned. Your squads get a cover save due to intervening models, and your Sonic weapons will ignore it.

Drop the Raptors and Terminators for Bikes for flank/AT hunting. Before purchasing them, I would proxy your current models to see if you like their playstyle.

Chaos Lords and terminators suffer the same problem: they are CC monsters, but are in their basic configuration to slow to reach the enemies.

Terminators have only two ways to "speed up". Either deep striking, which is unpredictable and leave them foot slogging. Or using a Land Raider, which is extremely expensive and stil leave them foot slogging after exiting their taxi.

Chaos Lords have far more useful upgrades, foremost bikes and jump packs. These upgrades not only let the Lord into CC range quickly, it also gives him superior speed to be able to charge new enemy units or claim quarters - and they also bring bonuses to the Lord (+T for the bike).

My recommendation is to change your Terminator Lord to a biker Lord, drop the terminators and the Land Raider. Then add the Lord to your biker pack (and give the AC a powerfist). You could add a small group of spawns as meat shield.

You could add a minimal squad of raptors with meltaguns and deep strike them behind the enemies tanks. Or a third squad of noise marines.

By the way - don't Rhinos have a limit at 10 marines? How are you going to transport your Sorcerer? I would put him on a bike and follow the Rhinos, ready to support the noise marine squads.

I didn't mention this before, but I would drop the SoC from the Sorcerer and give him a bike to keep him protected and able to cast freely. (Not to hold our breath with wish-listing, but hopefully a future Slaanesh Codex will allow bikers to be upgraded with Sonic blasters).

A Sorcerer doesn't necessarily need an Inv. Save as most of the time he'll only need it in combat which should be avoided. However, a Spell Familiar and an extra Mastery level would help to secure some useful spells each turn. Perhaps drop some Sonic blasters to upgrade him as they won't shoot while embarked their Rhinos, or a bike or two.

Additionally, a Siege Shield would be more suited on the Vindicators over a Dozer Blade. While the Havoc launcher would make a good backup weapon, it won't be able to shoot when the Demolisher cannon is fired. I would suggest putting the Havoc launchers on the Rhinos instead.

Ok, made the changes to the sorcerer and tweaked the vindicators. Kept at least combi-bolters on the vindicators so that I can choose to lose those if I get a weapon disabled roll.

I'd say it looks pretty solid to start hitting the tables and tweaking things in the future.
