The Continuing Committee of the Romulan Senate has approved operation Talon. Deputy Proconsul Talok and Admiral Valdor are the master minds behind Talon. The goal of the Talon is to replace a prominent Vulcan with a Romulan operative. Talok and Valdor have selected Commander V’las of the Vulcan Security Ministry as the target of Talon. V’las is the leading candidate to become Administrator of the Vulcan High Command, his replacement by an operative would help clear the way for a Romulan annexation of Vulcan. V’las is currently commanding a convoy on an exploration and survey mission. Admiral Valdor has determined that the Nelvana system will be the best place to ambush the convoy. The asteroids in the system will provide cover from the Vulcan sensors. Once the convoy enters the asteroid field, Valdor will order the strike to disable the Vulcan ships. With their systems down the Vulcans will not be able to detect transports as V’las is replaced.

So there is the narrative. The Romulans will be able to transport V’Las away by spending an action to target a ship with no active shields and swapping their admiral for V’Las.

As the Vulcan fleet enters the Nelvana system they pick up a squadron of smaller craft closing in on their position. The unidentified vessels do not respond to hails and begin to spread out in an aggressive formation. One of the vessels vanishes from all sensors. Commander V’Las orders shields up and all hands to man combat stations.

Set up

Turn 1
Both fleets advance, the Praetus cloakes (without damaging itself)

Turn 2
Ti’Mur takes 1 damage from the asteroid.

D’Kyr and Ti’Mur combine fire and disable one BoP in the center of the board. 2 BoP destroy the shields on the Ti’Mur another destroys a shield on the D’Kyr.

Turn 3

D’Kyr disables the Centurion’s BoP

Ni’Var disables another BoP

Ti’Mur is caught in the crossfire by the Praetus and the last BoP.

Turn 4
The Praetus destroys 2 shields on the D’Kyr. Ni’Var deals 1 damage to the BoP.

Turn 5
Praetus deals 2 damage to the D’Kyr.

Turn 6
D’Kyr deals 1 damage to BoP and receives 2 in return.

Turn 7
Praetus takes out 1 shield on Ni’Var.

Turn 8
Ships circling.

Turn 9

Praetus disables D’Kyr, leaving it dead in space.

Ni’Var disables the last BoP.

Turn 10
Praetus replaces V’Las with operative.

Turn 11
Praetus destroys 2 shields on Ni’Var.

Turn 12
Praetus does 2 damage to Ni’Var.

Turn 13
Praetus and Ni’Var close in on each other.

Ni’Var disables the Praetus.

The Praetus has lost power to weapons, however her mission is complete. With his prisoner in hold and the operative in place, Valdor orders the ship to cloak. He sends orders to the other ships to use all available power and withdraw back to Romulan space.

Onboard the Ni’Var, the Vulcans watch as their unidentified attacker disappears again. The other ships power up their engines and begin to move out of the system. With Ti’Mur losing life support and D’Kyr lifeless in space, Ni’Var cannot pursue the aggressors. Sopek logically reasons that the attackers are pirates that have decided the Vulcans are too well armed to risk any further loss. He orders his crew to dispatch damage crews to Ti’Mur and allows the pirates to flee.

Sorry it has been a while, work has been keeping me busy lately. I have a few more to type up and I have the week off so hopefully I will get caught up. We originally played this game to see if an all Tholian fleet would be viable. The Romulan BoP has a similar maneuver dial and the same number of hit points. BoP has 3 hull and the Tholian has 2 hull and a shield. I think this was a good test. In an era pure environment I think they could work.

Yeah they turned out to be tougher than I thought. It wasn't difficult for the Suuroks to throw 4 dice at close range and the D'Kyr is a tank in this time frame. Even when I was taking an evade my poor little BoP were blown to bits (disabled) However the good new for the Tholians is in Ent & TOS they may have a chance
