Truly sad news to wake up to, another legend gone.
There are few who can pass on knowing they kick started and defined a genre that quite possibly defined an era, inspired two generations of musicians in their own lifetime, and were able to stay doing what they loved almost until the end.
RIP, BB.

He was a real gent, I was lucky enough to meet him several times and saw a lot of shows.
A great man, self-deprecating, totally without bitterness, and a great example of how much the USA has moved on - that a man who once wasn't allowed to stay in a decent hotel finally got the love and respect he so obviously deserved.
Check out the photos of him in shorts, too, he was a cool cat!

I saw him in concert about two years ago. It was obvious he wasn't quite "all there," due to his age, but he was still the master of that guitar. There are so few true music legends, and he was one of them.

He's one of those guitarists I like to point to as an example of the fact that you do not need to play lots of notes to play well.

He was my break into listening to Jazz. He actually gave me a craving to play the guitar

I heard an 1989 Terry Gross interview with him replayed in memoriam the other day on NPR. He claimed he fathered 15 children with 15 different women. I had no idea!
