Hello! Trying to create two "starter" armies for me and my brother. I have a bunch of incoherent units, so trying to make some sense of the madness would be nice if anyone is experienced with creating army lists. I am way too new to the game to build two coherent lists that function properly.

Dark Angels:
I have the Dark Angels from the Dark vengeance (6th Edition) sets. I also have two boxes of Black Templar Sword Brethren, not sure if I could convert these into some type of DA unit?

Tau:
12 Fire Warriors
6 Crisis Battle Suits (3 Unbuilt.)
Piranha
Darkstrider (HQ Guy)
Kroot Carnivore Squad
3 Stealth Suits

Chaos Space Marines (Easily biggest amount of choices) :
9 Chaos Bikers
2 Hellbrute Dreadnoughts
20 Chaos Marines
10 Khorne Berzerkers
1 Chaos Rhino
25 Cultists
5 Chaos Terminators
10 Possessed CSM
1 CSM Lord
1 CSM Lord w/ JP
6 Chosen

Necrons:
20 Warriors
3 Tomb Blades
Box of Praetorian / Lychguard (unbuilt so can be either)
Ghost Ark / Doomsday Ark (Unbuilt so can be either)
5 Immortals
1 Trazyn the Immortal (Unbuilt, maybe can convert into a Necron Lord?)

Any help is appreciated! Really want to be able to make atleast 2x 500 point armies to start getting back into the game.

That's not a bad amount of Tau for a starter army honestly. What are you looking to do with it?

(Also, you could proxy a Crisis for a Crisis Commander. Alternate HQ choice for you.)

When building starter forces, you should use as many different types of units as possible. It will help you learn the different rules that apply to different situations. For example the Tau list at 500pts should have the Piranha in it to teach Skimmer rules, the Stealth Suits to teach you how to use cover well and 2 units of 6 Fire Warriors to teach you about unit placement. Not sure if you could fit Darkstrider in points wise, maybe use him as a normal Fireblade?

The Chaos list should use the Cultist Horde to teach you both how to handle big units of bad models, it should include the Bikers to learn the Biker interaction in the movement phase as well as the Beserkers inside the Rhino, to teach him about transport rules.

Any list you make out of those necrons will be fine. 2 10 Man warrior squads supported by a Ghost Arc would be a good list.
