Which Mek Gunz are the most kompetitive?
In my current list I've got 5 Lobbas (which I really want to include as Barrage sniping is good from my Biovore days) and 5 Smasha Gunz. I also have 15 Lootas but I am contemplating switching them or the Smashas for other Gunz. I also have a MA Warboss for SnP (as well as Da Finkin' Kap for Infiltrate Warlord). Would it also be worthwhile mix matching (eg 3 KMK and 2 Traktors)? Help appreciated!

Why do you want to switch the Loota's? Is it because they can't perform their AA duty or do they die too quickly or is the str 7 ap4 not good enough?
The ork codex seems to be pretty well balanced internally, so it's mostly about what you need rather than 'best'.

i personally would replace the smasha gunz with kmk (more reliable strength and arguably better shooting since its blast). geting at least 2 traktor gunz is a good combo, they are effective full bs against flyers and skimmers and if not they are at least snap shot s8 ap3 gunz.
dropping lootas can alow you to take different mek gunz and then increase those gunz squad sizes, and also purchase ammo runts for the gunz that need it the most.

I really like the idea of an ork gun line. With a mega armor mek with KFF in with a bunch of lootas, near some big guns...but thats just the rule of cool in me going, that'd be cool to try.
Dunno if it'd be worth a darn.

The best Mek Gun is the one with the most dakka!
But really it just depends on what you like. Trakktor cannons definitely have a place if you play against fliers often.
But for ground work I like Lobbas and KMK's. They do decent work.

Haha too true!
I am contemplating switching to KMKs. Smashas are hit or miss, particulary when firing at AV13 or higher and T6 upwards. At least KMK's only have to worry about getting hot and can wound/glance everything

Lobbas are the best IMO. 36 range is alright if you get the long edge deployment type (hammer and anvil? forget the names), but if you get short edge or even diagonals you can be seriously limited in where you can place the weapons. With 48" and barrage Lobbas don't have this problem, plus they can be kept completely out of LoS to protect them from enemy shooting (or more accurately, the morale tests caused by suffering the tiny amounts of damage shooting can do to these things)
Kannons are also very nice due to their versatility. Served me well last edition and I can see myself fielding them more in this one.
Of the more expensive ones the KMK looks the most impressive on paper, because plasma cannons are always fantastic

I always run a squad of 3-5 lobbas and abunch of single KMK as big gunz is basically all i have for heavy support. They're doing quite fine. Sometimes i take a single kannon for leftover points.
Trakktor kannons can be good and it's worth having a couple. I've also run a bubblechukka a few times and amazingly, it did fine in every game! Maybe, i'm lucky or maybe the opponent underestimates it as much as we all do. Or both. Cause on paper it's an underwhelming weapon but on table it somehow manages to find it's infantry targets. I've also run Zzap but didn't manage to achieve anything with it other than grots fleeing from overheating themselves. Which can be a reason to field it on it's own.

I run footsloggas, so basically have 3-6 free heavy support slots as i mostly go for double cad in games over 1k. So, there's no reason to not get single guns to score points and cover more ground. Except for lobbas - they work best when in units of 3+ due to barrage rules.

Luckilly, they're basically just artillery guns. So, you can get ww2 cannons for like 5-7$ a piece and orkify them. Will have to get grots though.

What is the consensus on rolling for the random Gunz? iirc the bubblechukka had wording that kinda implied you could roll for each bubble chukka individually (IE you'd get a battery firing different strengths and AP large blasts). The wording is as follows for each; Zzap - Each time a zzap gun is fire, roll 2D6 to determine its strength Smasha - Roll once each shooting phase to determine the strength of the weapon Bubble - Roll once each shooting phase to determine the strength and AP of the bubble chukka ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On topic; Lobbas are incredible for their cost and all the other reasons already mentioned. I use Kannonz because I have 3 of the old metal ones and should be able to make 2 more. I have 3 IG mortars I use as Lobbas and should be able to get two more. I bought one new Mek gun and will eventually convert 4 old Trukks into Gunz. I like Smash Gunz for their AP 1 and ability to Skyfire if necessary.
Roll Str per gun until FAQ'd. That'll help average out strength. Some will be high and some low.
Also you might want to through some HQ Meks into you Artillery units.

Will have to get grots though. as a side note, for lobbas, I take the ogryn cannon arms (£0.75 - on the bit site I use), then using the stormboyz rokkit smoke technique using scenery tree, I create a floating gun platform that looks like it is rokkit propelled. Each lobba is then on a 60mm base (but you don't have to base them), overall I can make a lobba for about £1.50 each. need 20 lobbas? well that's about £30  Whats a mek gun these days?? I have also done the same with KMKs using the same idea; heres a photo - I use odd connectors and bits to make the gun bodies and just sprinkle with orky bits to finish up (which I haven't done on this one yet)

So here's an idea I came up with while trying to mix Kannons
3 Kannons
2 Traktors
5 Ammo Runts
= 129
So it's about the same cost as a Dakkajet with 3 shootas, yet is effective turn one and you can hide the Traktors at the back to protect them for AA duties. They can still snapshoot ground targets and all the gunz double out MEQ. Thoughts? Or is it never a good idea to mix gunz?

If I was mixing, kannons and traktors would be the mix. Same stats, both can function as AA or ground targets (with a slight disadvantage either way).
Only concern would be you might want some extra grot crew in there, unless your giving them some sort of Mek? As LD5 they will be running once they take a few wounds. Also, they are 36" range, so you will need to position them well.

With a $10 pack of Plasticard, and another 10$ pack of Plasticard tubing, I've made eight Mek Gunz. With some extra bits in our bits boxes, it looks great.
I found a tutorial on youtube that gives you a very basic but good looking cannon. I'll put it up after work.
Best part about Orks; standards are for the weak.
