I saw on B&C someone who was there said that apparantly these are actually brush paints, and they're still working on the airbrush ones, which would explain the proper bottles as opposed to dropper ones.

The exact quote from Balthamal on B&C:
There's paints now too for all of the Legions - both base colours and washes. Brush only at the minute but the airbrush range is being worked on now so shouldn't be too far away.

I have recently come to realize that the FW bottles are really not hard-wearing. I own a bunch of the weathering powders (which are excellent I might add) but many of the lids have started to break into little pieces under a lot of use. While this is fine for powders as I just pop a bit of foil over the top, actual paint would dry up super fast in them.

Odd that FW would be selling actual paints though, seems to be fighting with GW proper if they are both trying to sell the same thing...

They seem a lot more specific to the Space Marine legions. I welcome it, SoH are a pig to paint without a proper colour for them.

Actually, they've seemed to use a lot of things like Vallejo and Tamiya and things, as opposed to mostly citadel. The first four in the paint guide they said they used Citadel (although the SoH in that guide don't look much like theirs so I think they probably didn't) but I've emailed them about AL and others and they tell you every paint they used, even if they aren't Citadel.

I think the SoH ones for example, probably get you the right base colour without having to mix four different colours like you do now. So that one isn't redundant. The others might be a bit more so. I'm not sure.

I got a feeling these are just coat d' arms paints. They make the p3 paints and use the same bottle for everything. p3 is known for working very well in air brushes so I would find in interesting to know if they are the same paints repackaged.

They seem to be very specific shades for the Space Marine legions so I'm pretty sure they're not the same paints repackaged. They might be made by the same company but I think they're definitely new colours.

I really don't mind spending a little extra for the paints I want (it's not like I'm gonna buy them all) for the convenience factor. Before now, to paint SoH going by the FW scheme, you had to mix four paints just to get the base coat. Now there's one paint. I don't like mixing paint, particularly for the basecoats of a whole army, so these seem pretty ideal. I'll probably pick up the Word Bearers ones with my next order and give them a go (probably just with a brush, I doubt I'll have an airbrush by then).
