Hey guys, I've slapped together a small-ish CSM force just for fun. I'm still really up in the air about whether to sell these guys off (I also have much larger Crimson Fists, IG, Orks and Space Wolves forces and just sold my Tyranids a couple months ago) but the army has a lot of sentimental attachment for me. When I was 18, I lived out of a hotel room in Mojave doing an internship. I didn't know anyone except the other interns, all of whom were older than me and lived out of town. To pass the time (since I'd left all my other stuff back home) I ordered, built and painted a small CSM force over the three months I was there. Not a lot of it has survived the last 10 years, but the heart of my current collection still dates back to then. Anyway, on to the point...
Aurelija Annusaat - 105pts
Dark Apostle
Warsmith Heridor - 105pts
Chaos Lord; Aura of dark glory, power fist
Bretheren of the Exalted Gates - 177pts
9 Word Bearers; bolters, plasma gun
Chaos Rhino
Brotherhood of the Serrated Sun - 197pts
9 Word Bearers; bolt pistol & ccw, meltagun, Champion with power fist
Chaos Rhino
Zealots of the Pantheon - 101pts
21 Word Bearers Cultists; 2 flamers, shotgun
The First Wave - 120pts
20 Iron Warriors Cultists; 2 heavy stubbers
Zarvisch the Accursed - 105pts
Helbrute
The Rampart Sweepers - 203pts
8 Iron Warriors Berzerkers; 2 chain axes
Chaos Rhino
Cannon Fodder - 120pts
4 Chaos Spawn
Death from Above - 170pts
Heldrake
Death Engines - 210pts
3 Obliterators
Predator Colossus - 140pts
Chaos Predator, twin-linked lascannon, lascannon sponsons
Predator Mikaul - 100pts
Chaos Predator, twin-linked lascannon
1853 points total.

Did you make these names up or is it from a novel? Its very fluffy.
But to be stronger you are going to have to make some changes.
cant have rhino for 21 cultists n its not a dedicated transport for cultists you burn a fast or heavy slot.
drop apostle.
Give the lord a pair of reading glasses or a book n a tiny minion as a spell familiar
You have the pieces for
SORC@60
2X10 CULTISTS @100
Helcult formation : 2x10 cultists@100 and 1 helbrute wich confer fearles and then zealousness if brute gets wrecked. Also the cultists provide look out sir and cover save for brute.
Downgrade zerkers into mark of khorne marines to save points and carry more Meltaguns.
with the extra points you can give your sorc a bike and ml3 and sf. He can now tun with the spawns so that the 2x9 marines can be full 10 men squads and carry 2 melta guns.
your list will look more like
hq:
1 Sorc, bike ml3, spell familiar. (convert lord by putting 2 lego wheels infrontbn back so he is riding an invisible bike)
1 sorc, bike ml3, spell familiar (convert apsotle same as lord)
troops:
2x10 cultists @100
2x10 marines, 2 melta guns, rhino
1x10 marines, mok, ccw swap out bolter, 2 melta guns, rhino with dirge castor
fa:
2x5 spawns MoN (scratch build by using army men and dinosaur children toys)
drakey
hvy:
3 oblitz MoN
2 Preds with side sponsons lc @115x2
formation
Helcult

Names are my own creation, I love doing that kind of thing and really giving the force some character. The Rhino was an oversight because of copy/ pasting.
I like the theme of my list, but see that yours is more competitive. Maybe I'll try and strike a balance. Where is this Helcult formation from? I may need another book.

100 PTS for a single predator w/ twin-linked lascanon is pretty expensive for a single shot every turn.
Better take a 5 men squad w/ lascanon. Will had another secure objective unit and probably more resilient

Props on the attention to detail. If you want to make a "competitive list" I feel like CSM is not the best army to do so at the moment. The only chance you really have there is the new imperial armor book which has some great units and upgrades for CSM.
Other than that biker squads seem to be the preffered method for getting lords and sorcerers around these days.

lols this guy. Try the 2 lascannon side sponson for a total of 115pts vs the 4 lc havocs at 155pts. Havocs do not get obj secured because they are not troops and can only score if nothing contest. They only super score in Big Guns Never tire. In much larger points, havocs with 4 or more extra marines out perform tri las pred and more durable because losing casualties cause ld check and is big trouble for small squad.
back in 5th ed when you can only shot 1 gun on a tank, the tl lc turret pred was great at 100pts.
and epartalis is talking about Imperial Armor Volume 13 : War Machines of the Lost and the Damned
Great Book!

Thats even worse! vanilla marines make it work by having combat squad split the short range weapon from the long range gun. CSM is wasting 9 marines for 1 lc.

The Helcult formation comes from the Helbrute Dataslate - it's an online thing - look at Black Library's website.
Essentially, it's a single Helbrute and two mobs of cultists which have decided that it's God. They give it an improved cover save and are fearless as long as it's alive. When it (inevitably) gets destroyed they get Zealot instead, making them even better!

I'd sugest puting sponsons on other predator aswell , also you need to do something more to you lord he's to naked , good options ( mon biker with pf and lc, khorne jugernout lord , also you can make super assasin slanesh lord with murder sword and bike/ jetpack ) I realy like dark apostle wery flufy put him in a blob with 35 cultists that's he's place! I also agree that you shood run youre hellbrut in a formation with cultists ( iron warriors cultists worshiping dat machine monstrasity ) And if you realy like youre lord and it's dat good of a model you can try to run him as Huron and get some cool combos with that . Love da name's !

Thanks for the tips guys.
How do the dataslates work? Is it only with Apple systems or anything? Do I need to print it out for a game or a tournament?
As for my Lord, he's the old Iron Warriors Warsmith model. I dug him out a while back and decided to use him for my lord. Bikers wouldn't really work thematically with either WB or IW, so I'm not sure how to incorporate them in. I do have at least a couple of CSM bikes though.
