If my gargantuan creature rolls 3 stomps and stomps forwards onto a unit that isn't in the combat can I count any wounds caused to that unit for combat resolution?
The rule says "total up the number of wounds inflicted by each side onto their opponents. This includes all wounds caused in the fight sub phase".
These two statements, one right after the other suggest opposite things.
Wounds inflicted on opponents would suggest you only count the wounds on people you are engaged with. However "all wounds caused in the fight sub phase" would indicate I can use wounds not allocated to someone in the combat.

As far as I know the stop is resolved against all units it hits, whether or not they are in the combat. So you don't 'borrow' wounds from the other unit you just resolve against them too

I know you just attack the other unit, I was talking about combat resolution not wound allocation.

Combat resolution just counts the all wounds suffered by both sides, it doesn't split them up by unit.

I know I am asking if I can count wounds from units that were not actually part of the combat but got wounded during that fight sub phase anyway.

Yeah because they are wounds caused during the fight sub phase.

Thanks my friend was saying you only count models that were in the combat because it says inflicted onto their opponents and that the opponents are only people locked in the combat.
