So I've decided to pull the trigger on building my son a Lizardman army and then enhancing my Bretonnian army, then we will mostly focus on playing 6th together in my basement. It turns out there are lots of supplements for 6th which I still had from my own gaming days and which I have collected from eBay over the last month.

So, keeping in mind the building a 6th Edition Lizardman force, I'd like some suggestions on what to buy. My starting point is:

Lizardman Battalion Box set
Skink regiment box
Stegadon

... I was debating a Carnosaur and then saw the price tag versus more regiments and said forget it. So should I get a second Battalion box? I guess a Slann is pretty much mandatory for HQ but neither of us like the Slann model? My son digs skinks,Saurus warriors, and the Stegadon and those are the things that drew him to Lizardmen.

I have about 2000-2400 points worth of Bretonnians so that is probably the end point we're working for. I want to stock up now so I'm not kicking myself down the road if things go pear-shaped with 9th edition. Thanks!

Agreed... the Battalion for Lizardmen is really good when you double up. It's a solid core for the army with 40 Saurus (I never use more than this even at 4000 points) and with your extra box of skinks you have 48 (again plenty).

Also the Slann is by no means mandatory. If he doesn't want to include one he can double up on Skink Priests for magic needs which perform fairly well. Saurus Oldbloods and Scar-Veterans are nasty characters as well. The Carnosaur is also a lot of fun, but he is expensive. Sometimes you can find him for cheap on ebay though so keep your eye open.
