Regular Baneblade is out as I understand it. Are the Fellblade variants CSM accessible? Are the rules for these variants covered in the most recent Apocolypse Supplement? I ask before I shell out the money for that supplement.

Yep, you can take a plague reaper of Nurgle. Rules are in the Pandorax war zone book.

There is a chaos (including appropriate chaos upgrades) Fellblade in IA13.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The renegade list in imperial armour 13 can take a baneblade. It's pretty good, as it makes your renegades fearless, and they are so cheap there's barely any points tax.

605 pts gets you a bs3 baneblade with 25 fearless bubble wrap guys

Can you take those formations outside of a Pandorax campaign game or whatever?

Yes, per the apocalypse supplement they can be used in any missions. Most tournaments allow them to be used as a LoW choice for Chaos.

What book are you referring to when you say 'the apocalypse supplement" ?

The Imperial Armour Vraks book has the Detachment called The Purge. It is a pure Nurgle or Unmarked Detachment that uses models from both Renegades of Vraks and CSM Factions. Renegades of Vraks have access to a Baneblade. Just the main type though. The other requirements of the Purge is 1+ Renegade Command Squads and two Elites choices. No Fast Attack available in this Detachment though.

The Pandorax war zone book; it has a number of chaos apocalypse formations.

Apocalypse isn't 40k. Mind quoting a rule location saying the Apocalypse unit can be used in normal games?

Specifically no, but the baneblades listed in Escalation are copied from the Apocalypse book. Unfortunately, the plague reaper rules didn’t come out until Pandorax. I think most tournaments recognize it as a valid LoW choice for Chaos. For example, you can use it at Adepticon. I guess talk it over with your gaming group to see if they have a problem with using it. I don’t think it’s OP compared to the other baneblade variants.

Tournament house rules are not official. The fact that some people make a house rule to allow a unit does not mean that the rules published by GW include it in normal games, and nor does the claim that the unit is a reasonable thing to have in normal games.

Also, note that ITC does not allow it, so this supposed recognition in tournaments that it has is clearly not universal.

I stand corrected. It’s up to you to determine how “official”(aka house rule) you want to play with a baneblade for a Chaos army or use the IA units listed above. Given that there’s no official model for the plague reaper, I doubt it will appear in a Nurgle DaemonKin Codex if/when one is published.

I mostly want to play the formation with 5 units of bikers who can charge after they turbo boost.
