Greetings all.

Pretty straightforward one this: I have three maulers in my CSM spawn rush list. Shall I equip two with lasher tendrils (which would help more with knights), and one with magma cutters, or 2 x magma cutters and 1 x tendrils? The rest of the list is made up of spawn, sorcerers and cultists, with a small allied detachment of daemons to boost the warp charge.

You go all Lasher Tendrils. It has power fists so should already be beating up vehicles up in combat.

I'd say one magma cutter fiend and two lasher tendril fiends. It covers all your bases tarpit wise and gives you a magma cutter fiend to open up the things that those extra melta hits really help with. Particularly things that don't fight back in CC like land raiders and monoliths.

"Because we couldn't be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We've all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we've all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher's Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.

The Wolves will always come to the heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn't behave that way. Only a dog does.

That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

I often use two Maulerfiends in my "in your face" CSM lists. I usually have a couple squads of raptors, bikes and squads in rhinos with them and at first I thought that lasher tendrils were best, but what I found was that they rarely used them. Most things that killed them, or even that they fought in cc simply used grenades and those are one use only anyway. I found that the best bang was with the free hits of the magma cutters.

Prepare yourselves for the onslaught men. The enemy is waiting, but your Officers are courageous and your bayonettes sharp! I have at my disposal an entire army of Muskokans, tens of thousands of armour and artillery supporting millions upon tens of millions of the Imperium's finest fighting men with courage in their bellies, fire in their hearts and lasguns in their hands. Emperor show mercy to mine enemies, for as sure as the Imperium is vast, I will not!

Well, if you're running a Daemonkin Dex you. An potentially use up to 4 in a 1500~ game. I'd usually run 1 lasher for every 2 magma. Reason simply being that the magma are there for threats, the lasher is there for utility. Get some in B2B with a knight and the lasher helps, but the Magmas deal greater DMG with those str 8 meltas. Its also good to note that the DMG a magma fiends can put on fortifications and transports that are vehicles is quite a step up from a lasher fiend

Sometimes I regret not giving a magma cutter fiend lasher tendrils instead, but I never find myself regretting it the other way around. The lasher tendrils are really phenomenal at taking a lethal unit and turning him into a helpless puppy. I do usually run something alongside the maulerfiends to support them and maybe do the actual killing since fiends get so few attacks though.
