I am just getting back into 40k, haven't played since 5th edition when grey knights were first introduced. I played eldar back then and so I started another eldar army a month before the new codex came out, so that was a waste of money lol. Anyway I just played 2 750 pt games last night at the lgs, just trying to learn the new rules and such. Didn't do to bad, but didn't win. I don't have much of a super competitive army yet. The store has a team tourney coming up in 2 weeks, and its a 1000 pts. The army lists I am going to post is for models that I have so I do not plan on buying more only getting the ones I have ready for right now.

I haven't played against new armies, I don't know what to expect against me. I am going to be going in as a random team player, so I don't know who my partner will be or what they will bring for their 1000. I know what most of you will say is oh another eldar list who cares. I know its not the greatest time to be coming back and asking for help with everyone hating eldar ( apparently last edition with serpent spam as well) so please go easy on me. I am not trying to dominate, I am trying to have fun that is why I played the game before, that is why I want to play it again. Thanks in advance.
Also some other units that I have are rangers, wraithlord, avatar.

If you are trying to be more competitive, the second list is better. However, I have tested wraithblades quite a lot and they far to vulnerable without transport. Even with it, they die far to easily to AP3 weapons and simply aren't point efficient.

The guardians would also need transportation as their 5+ save isnt reliable with their 12" range. Their reliability comes with dropping out of a Wave Serpent and unleashing 20+ shots into an enemy unit and to hope on getting as many semi-rends as possible.

I understand the wanting to take the Falcon but for points cost, taking a Crimson Hunter is far more efficient (with the pulse laser and two brightlance shots, plus the ability to take down enemy aircraft easily) However that leaves the banshees vulnerable so perhaps swapping the wraithblades for a Wave Serpent and having more Banshees would be better.

The Scatter laser on the Waithknight us next to useless now since the new codex doesn't give it laser lock anymore. the 20 points could be used for more banshees or perhaps go towards another squad of jetbikes (using points left over from the wraithblades)

BUT thats just my advice if you would rather take the units because you like to play them then do because its more about fun than winning with the top codex

I am going to be playing in a tourney next week. Its team 1000pts and my teammate is Space Wolves. Here are 2 new lists I cam up with now that I have a few more models. I am trying to be competative but still make new friends, lol. This is a tourney or I would not be thinking of brining a WK in a 1000.

So you're on the right track, let's refine it a bit. I like the first list better, but it's a tad light on units. Do you know what your teammate is bringing? If he's going to go thunder wolves or more cc, drop the blades and bring more shooting. Eldar can shoot with the best of em when they bring the right stuff. Spiders are AWESOME. Even you're unit of 5 will murder units. Also, remember when they deep strike they get to shoot, battle focus and then assault move. SO maneuverable. I'd say swap the blades for a stock guardian defender squad, which saves you 60 points. Then either add jetbikes or more spiders to that unit you have.

My partner brought a huge space wolves thunder cave unit, and a flyer. We won all 3 rounds and tied overrall so it came down to battle points for the tie breaker and we lost. Our second game which we won 14-13 ws against the toughest opponnent and they seized on us and did a ton of damage since we were ready to take turn 1 to them, but oh well. Our armies played really well togather. Oh and I got voted as best general in the secret ballet, so i won a little more than my entry fee back in store credit. Overall, I was happy with that list. and I am looking forward to the combat patrol we have next month.

Did the WraithKnight survive every game? How did you play the list? The units seem sort of too small to me. But lots of objective grabbing

Yes he survived every game. He actually only took 2 wounds the whole time. He would have actually probably been wiped off the board in the second game, by the TAU and CSM, but I had my farseer casting fortune on him, re rolling saves and his FNP, kept him alive. I took this list with the knowledge of who my partner was going to be and what he was brining to the table or I would have brought a different list. I was objective grabbing and shooting while he pounded straight up the middle. It actually balanced pretty well.

Game 1 was eldar/kreig- we focused on destroying the eldar since we knew the kreig could bring a whole platoon back, and that strategy worked out awesome, he was 1 sergent away from being able to bring a whole platoon back and we let him run around the board and ignored him, needless to say he was frustrated.easy victory.
Game 2 Tau/CSM- they seized and did a ton of damage, we were able to retaliate and my partners thenerwolve cav destroyed the invincible bike squad to save that game for us, plus i made about 30 saves on my wraithknight from tau shooting and only took 2 wounds. Won by 1 VP
Game 3- nids/skitari- they f***ing seized on us as well, not as much damage. 2 horde like armies. Thunder cav ate the gak out of units, my wraithblades destroyed at least 3 skitari units and my wraithknight stood around trying to shoot 3 nid flyers. easy victory won by like 23 points.

Hopefully this answered your question. I know this is not TAC list but it worked for this tourney.
