wel i have been working on an idea i have for a intresting competative list

2x5 tact with plasma canons
3x 6sterns melta bomb
3 rhinos

10 devs 4 las
10 devs 4 ml flack
10 devs 2 las 2 ml flack
1 impeial bunker quad and shield

Sterns gain ObSec everything is scoring now. So why take Tac squads? Even with tank Hunters devs can be pretty underwhelming for their points.

need the tacs because i need them els list is unbound. ive taken the devs because they ar cheap and can take 4 heavy weapons. also i have 3 elite slots thus cant take any more and stens ar daam xpensive thus i need the tacts and defs to fill theyr rolls. every unit in the list have a specivic job in list

What do you gain from being battle forged as you have ObSec anyway?

if i only use stens in the list then it means a whoooole lot of points as they are almost double the points of a tacs marine. so i wil have less bodies, less units etch. for example 1 stern with plasma canon is 135 points. 1 tact with plasma can 85 points thats 50 points that could have been spended elsewhere

Given the PC example Stern guard with 2 PCs is 145 points tacs with 2 PCs is 170 points. Stern guard give huge damage output benefits through special weapons, super bolters and combis. Given them drop pods and you can have a brutal alpha strike.

which also means the tact unit wil be a 10 man unit while the sterns are 5. the lonely tact will always have a place in my list even just for a filler. if i play only sterns then i will even hav less units and less meat

Which is of course entirely your choice. I'm just giving advice to make the list more effective. Tactical marines are probably the weakest troops choice in the entire game (DE Wyches run them close) so my advice would be to avoid them particularly if running Pedro who makes them redundant. I would personally take scouts in a LSS over tacs by a mile. Though to be honest unbound seems the only viable way these days due to him only effecting 1 detachment.

Flack missiles aren't worth it. Mixing weapons in devs (or ndeed anything) is a bad idea. Sternguard need combis and special weapons to justify their cost.

To be honest this is not remotely competitive in its current format. It looks like a gunline (which marines can't do effectively in 7th) with Sternguard used as your primary objective grabbers making them just expensive tac marines at the moment.

the beuty of this list is the way its set up. 2 tacs for ap2 hunting. 3 units of defs that becomes 6 2 of those devs protected in ap14 armour with an ap12 shield one ml dev on top manning quad. yes its a gunline and list is created to be supported each other
