So I'm looking for something different to do with my Necron army at the moment and I've done the Dec-Crons and eaten my cheese but I want a fun list to do.
So far 1000 points of Tomb Spiders and scarabs seems like a go (I've done smaller games with it and it was hilarious) but I wanted to know if there are any other rules or supplement sorts of things (Forge World is ok if there is anything there) that exist?
Cheers

I don't so much as push my luck as I shove it over a cliff set above a valley of jagged rocks. Might explain why the Mrs isn't that happy with me most days.

Imperial Armour 12: The Fall of Orpheus has a full army list for building an army from a Dynasty that is inflicted with the Flayer Virus at every level. It also includes the most recent rules for the Canoptek Tomb Stalker and Canoptek Tomb Sentinel, as well as Canoptek Sentry Pylons and Flensing Scarabs.

My apologies , I have no useful reply.

But I can't resist a comment ;

" ....1000 points of Tomb Spiders and scarabs.... " sounds like Lash'uddra , " The endless swarm ". Unfortunately that's ALL the Lexicanum says about this C'Tan. But Lash'Uddra obsesses me anyway.
Anyway, the " endless swarm" -part always makes me think of Tomb Spyders and Scarabs.

The Fall of Orpheus is the only way to go, really. Though, I get all the flavor I want from the base dex.

However, here's hoping they update the Fall of Orpheus soon, or come out with a Flayed One supplement or something.

I liked crons when they basically had no flavor... if they still were just soulless automatons bent on wiping out all life for the lols (and star gods) maybe I'd still play them.

Oh 2nd edition Necrons, how I miss you! Bring back T8 Scarabs

Pfft, if you think 2e crons had no flavour you were clearly not paying attention.

That said, T8 Scarabs and universal Disruption Fields were awesome.

Endless Swarm is actually what I called my homebrew Spyder + Scarab apocalypse formation, back in the day...

The miniatures had a lot of flavor, oh man just think of the original Immortals! I really loved the whole Judge Death-type feel that the Necrons had going on, the crime is life and the sentence is death. The model range being so limited enforced the feel of fielding a faceless, soulless swarm of killer robots where just about everyone is the same. Necrons back then felt like a force of nature more than anything, something that just can't be reasoned with! Tyranids have always had a similar thing going on but more models and customization options. Tyranids being actually alive it's easy to understand that they want to stay that way so they at least had some kind of a reason for their actions. Also, because Terminators > Xenomorphs (shots fired)

Build an army list around this Phaeron and his Dynasty and you can't go wrong.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

What's to say you couldn't? I like the idea of a modern Necron army that harkens back to that bygone age. Like maybe the entire dynasty suffered severely from the big sleep and essentially lost any personality and free thought (like what happened to Zandrekh or whatever, except instead of becoming delusional they got SENTIENCE WIPED), and are now just super-terminators bent solely on extermination, even though they themselves don't know why and couldn't understand why.

Base a list off a gimmick you like rather than whats absolutely good.

Something silly involving c-tans or monoliths usually hamstring crons well.

They already have been wardified and there's no going back. Sigh.

That's what I'm saying, subvert the wardian fluff and make your own necrons basically adhere to the old canon. Forging narratives!

Why is it everyone thinks the C'Tan are dirt. They are actually good if you aren't trying to rush them in there and actually play to their power. The are very hard to ignore with some of their powers they get to generate every turn. Especially when they get that Assault 10 shot that has quake.

Its about consistency. and they are not very consistent.

Not saying they are bad....

At least the nightbringer is semi consistent with gaze of death and can at least regain his T8 through god shackle now...

But with sharded c'tan, I prefer Wardcron's make-a-shard set up instead of all this random shiznack.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

I still mostly use my original metals. Sure, I have a few plastics now - mostly my Crypteks and my Anrakyr conversion, and the new Wraith and spyder models are just too sexy to ignore - but for the most part? I use old Warriors as Immortals since the old Warriors are so much bigger and more powerful than the current ones. I use old Immortals as Pyrrean Eternals. My Deathmarks are actually gathered across the years from people who had a spare WD217 Necron Warrior lying around (they used to be Pariahs, oh how the mighty have fallen)... and of course, my Court Lords were (when they were worth taking) the original brick-cloak-and-staff-of-light originals. Three of my seven Spyders are metal, and two are kitbashes based off Ferrick's design, so they look like scaled up versions of the original Scarabs, of which I have about thirty bases.

Make a 2E Necron army.

C'Tan
Monolith or two
Warriors to taste
A small Lychguard group to represent Praetorians
And maybe a lowly Overlord, being commanded by his better.

Scarabs and Spyders optional.

Haha... Ferros...

A 2E Necron army can not include C'tan, Monoliths, Lychguard OR Praetorians.

A 2E Necron army has the following options to choose from;

Lord with Staff of Light.
Warriors.
Scarabs (individual units, not swarms).
Destroyers.

And you also have to use the original White Dwarf rules, which are prefectly balanced for 7th edition. Basically regular Necron warriors were then what SM terminators wish they were today.

You know what really scares me? That some of those anecdotes could just as well be the plot of actual GW fluff.
