Just wondering what exactly an "army" means.

Namely in the context of the Khorne Daemonkin - "A Khorne Daemonkin army generates Blood Tithe points during the course of each battle; the controlling player must keep a record of how many points his army accrues"

Is an army "all the forces controlled by a player", or "controlled by a side" (such as in 2v2 etc), or is it a detachment, or what?

Just wondering if multiple detachments etc of KD would have seperate tithes.
