This latest battle report saw Louis coming to mine for a 1000 point battle.
Louis brought his new Rohan army themed on the riders from Snowbourn, you may recall Theoden asking "Where are the riders from Snowbourn", looks like they got caught up in this battle first!
Louis's army consisted of Theoden, Eomer, Eoywn, Grimbold and a captain; they were leading two warbands of riders, a warband of Royal guard, archers and spearmen.

The Mordor Orcs there are spectacular.
I made some arrows to go in the quivers of mine (a very thin piece of brass wire, with milliput fletching and shaft). I only did about three to four arrows a piece, as they were such a bitch to do, but it added a lot to the minis (but then I also carved out all of the undercuts on my plastic LotR minis - takes about a ½ an hour each to do, but the effect is incredibly effective).
It will be nice to see the Rohirrim finished.
I do not have any individual Rohirrim at this point (although I have the models for them). All of mine are mounted on Element Bases at this point (80mmx60mm bases with three mounted figures, or 80mmx30mm bases with four foot figures) for use with a mass-combat set of rules (Hoplon: they are a DBx styled mass-combat set of rules, which use units, rather than individual elements, as in DBM(M)/DBA/HotT, and which have a complete moral system, as well as rules for special characteristics for the units - such as: Fast, Armored, Unarmored, Shieldwall, Dual-Armed, Heavy Weapons, Professional, Untrained levy, and so on). I sacrificed my individual based models for my mass-combat games given that I have more than enough models to eventually re-build individually based, as well as the element based armies.
Most of the people I play with seem to prefer massed combat to skirmish at this point.
But there are some skirmish encounters I would like to be able to do eventually, especially with the Rohirrim, seeing as they have several possible different opponents: Dunlendings, Dol Goldur (both living an undead), Mordor, and Hithaelgir Goblins/Orcs (including Moria). And the Rohirrim are my favorite minis from this line.

Nice batrep Leonardis. Nice terrain, too. Sad that not all the figs are painted, but still fun to read, and all the pics are awesome. Makes me want to finish up my Rohan army too... but I've been so focused on my dwarves.
Looks like the Rohan guy didn't have really good dice that day, though! Tell him if all his figs were painted, he would have rolled better!
Thanks for sharing!

I second that.
If his figures were painted he would have rolled better....
I too am distracted from finishing my Rohirrim by other figures.
In my case Goblins/Orcs (around 313 of them - although I now have 107 of them finished).
I have 18 Rohirrim finished out of 166 total mounted (which would come to 98 foot figures for their dismounts. I need foot elements for if the mounted need to dismount). And technically I have enough mounted to do about 2x that... I need to sell some of those, I think.
I would like to do some dwarves, eventually, but no one makes any Dwarves I like, so I am likely going to have to sculpt my own (and that means finding a new computer with more RAM so that I can sculpt chain mail digitally).
The scenery/terrain for the tabletop there did look awfully nice.
That is the one thing I like about Skirmish gaming, is that you can get much more detail in the terrain.
For Mass Combat, you aren't going to have cities on the tabletop, as most major battles tend to take place outside cities. And the ground scale is such that the city would have tiny houses.
This is one area where augmented reality games are really going to shine (being able to deal with multiple levels of play on the same table)... Of course, no "physical" miniatures with them, though.

Great looking battle, mate! Hopefully the Battle and Report help motivate your friend to keep on painting and get the Rohirrim done for a rematch!
