Looking good,

Whenever I see things like this, I immediately start looking into airbrushes again. One day I'll justify the cost and pick it up. I think you just made me one day closer to that decision.

"Because we couldn't be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We've all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we've all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher's Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.

The Wolves will always come to the heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn't behave that way. Only a dog does.

That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Looking forward to seeing some more pics of the drake as you get some more paint on, looking nice so far.

Looks awesome! I think you could go darker on the metal trim, it would make the molted/heated section really look brighter.

Maulerfiend update

I add some Nuln Oil unto the metallic parts, but the flash of the camera tends to overexpose them.

Looks great but, as someone said your metal trim is blending into the basecoats.

Ok, so what would you do ? darker those trims with a layer of nuln oil or agrax earthshade, or would you enlight it with a drybrush of some gold paint ? I am really interested in you opinions.

Thanks !

So I finally achieve my goal to have a tabletop result. I first prepare a base for it :

Wow. Absolutely stunning. Your lighting effects make the details on the model pop just that much more. Base was done fantastic as well, how did you do the lava? Was it a water effect that you painted red and yellow?

I'd hit it with some agrax to give it some more definition, then maybe a light silver drybrush to give it some wear?

@ Drogga : for the lava, no water effect, just an airbrush and a black, a dark red, a light red, yellow and white paints

@ Robisagg : Thanks for the tip, I have to work on these trims, and your idea sounds really good

loving the airbrushing, the fiend has some fantastic colour range. What I really like is the fact that you achieved a really good looking mini with popping details using a minimal palette (from what I can tell). The fact that you haven't over done the colours; using warm colours for the armour and using cool colours for OSL and the tentacles gives you a really cool contrasting mini, while the metal work helps break up the features. I agree on perhaps getting some more definition on the metal trim work.

How long did the fiend take you start to finish? this is a table top standard I assume? Cant wait to see the drake.

Yep, this is tabletop standard.

I took me approx. 2 hours of airbrush and 6 hours of brushes, so less than 10 hours. That is why I love airbrushing, you can achieve great results with a minimum of time.
