I played my first game of infinity yesterday, it's a lot to absorb. I loved the specktr, sin eater, and soul eater
Definitely the mvps.

I was wondering how one deals with a ninja alpha strike. Especially if they go first, their hidden units appear and assault and I can't do anything but discover. Any tips?

Aftermath can be calculated.

Against Camo markers you can always delay the reacting models ARO. If the marker does something that reveals it then you can declare an attack. If it stays camouflaged then the ARO is lost. If you're going 2nd, at the start of the game you can spend a command token to remove 2 orders from the 1st player's order pool just for the 1st turn.

You can also deploy to minimize the impact of an alpha strike. For example, having someone watch possible routes into your deployment to discover as it's coming in. Troops overwatching other friendly troops; this isn't really going to help against the initial strike especially if the ninja's moving into combat, but you can try to kill the ninja after he's revealed.

As a general rule direct template weapons work well as well as any MSV. Nomads have really good skirmishers so should be able to prevent anything from pushing in from mid table. Bog the Ninja with your own Camo shenanigans since it can't charge camo markers or force the ninja to take a longer bypass. If the Ninja does get a charge on a skirmisher, it can always lay a mine in reaction and sacrifice itself for the greater good.

The Minelayer skill is gold here with overlapping LoF to the mine near high value target, Bakunin can do it well. Mine go off on Markers and camo state is a Marker so the Ninja get blasted. Now the Ninja is no long in camo state. Next step is up to you.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Ninjas can be a bit tricky. Lunokhods are another reasonable option. Crazy koalas don't go off on markers but you can deter them from revealing in a particular area. Mines are good but a lot more limited in scope and so they're. easier to get around than koalas.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

Delaying ARO's seems like gold. So, if Ninja's walk into am mine they are revealed? Thats very useful....

Aftermath can be calculated.

Minelayers are pure gold for the cost. Two markers halfway up the board from the get go.

I may be an donkey-cave, but at least I'm an equal oppurtunity donkey-cave...

because if he reveals while he is close to a mine, the mine will blow up in his face.

Camo (and TO Camo & impersonators) markers trigger mines when they move, whether they're revealing themselves or not

Just remember the reason they reveal is because no matter what they are going to have to make a Die Roll.

Ehhh..... Even us who know the game still have to check rules. Case in point Impersonator Markers do not set of Mines, because Mines are Automatic Equipment (ie. no roll to hit and not a ARO/Order) and Impersonator don't set off Automatic Equipment/Skills.
