Hey there, extremely long time lurker here. Title sums it up really, just getting back into the game, have about a 1k force built up and am building to 1850 in the next month. Took a break from 5th edition until now, I can only read thru the rulebook before just getting out there and playing. Anyone in the area willing to get me back on my 40k feet? Preferably a regular group as that is what I had before moving here in the fall! My schedule is pretty open until next semester.

If you can make it to the Richmond area, Battlegrounds is a great place.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

I found that on a recent search, sadly it's a little over 2 hours from me

There's at least some 40K going on at Game Parlor out in Chantilly on Tuesdays, though mostly its by mutual appointment rather than a regular pickup group. That said, theres a few guys there that are pretty freindly, and willing to play casually/get new people in. I think Huzzah out in Ashburn is also doing some, vaguely recall something like a "nova runup league" or something, posted here in fact. There's also the Fairfax GW, which moved down onto 50 by Fair Oaks out of the mall, but I've never really been there, so I don't know what their scene is like. IIRC, NoVa is more WHF, 40K tends to be down further south with the remains of the IFL.

If you can tolerate heavy traffic, Games and Stuff is actually a really wonderful store, but it's up in Glen Burnie, MD, so a bit far, especially through 495 traffic, and because of said traffic I haven't been in a while, so I don't know if they still do much 40K. Likewise, haven't been down to Victory Comics out in Falls Church but the once, so not sure what's going on there gaming wise.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

Don't go to FFX GW.
Take it from a previous patron. The owner is kinda a d*ck.
Also, they only have 1 small gaming table.

I'd recommend the Springfield VA GW, several tables, VERY friendly staff, seemingly a lively community of 40k players (But i am new to that scene)

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum.

Thought the springfeild plaza GW closed a few years back now. Did it just move? Not really doing anything GW, so I admit I didn't go hunt it down or anything...

Thanks for the input guys, I recently visited the GW in Springfield, seems like an active community, I think i'll just give that a few goes. It's tough getting back into the hobby ( Re-learning rules and codexes, etc.)

Do you mean the manager? And if so, how is he a dick? Also, the Fairfax GW store has two 6'x4' tables, not one.
