Whilst listening to Know No Fear my mind started wandering, as it does ) and I wondered if there would be a market for die cast versions of 40k vehicles? Some sort of high quality collectors version. I mean there is a market for proper collectable models so I wonder if GW is missing a trick here? Who wouldn't want a nice die cast Baneblade or Warhound sat on a shelf or next to your work PC ) If they done at a scale that didn't clash with 28mm then they wouldn't be losing sales that way.

I then wondered about a 15mm 40k game... which at that point I just shook my head and laughed

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

You should be aware by now, GW only sell proper collectible models.

You just do not have the right mindset to be a GW customer I'm afraid.

They've licensed out collectible statuettes before, why not die cast?

I doubt it, to be frank. I like die cast models myself but the cost and weight of making GW models in die cast format looks prohibitive. Not to mention we have gone through several years of GW trying to convince players, fairly successfully, that metal models are the spawn of Satan and they must all switch to Fine Cast and then bin that in favour of polystyrene.

It would be interesting to try, though, to see the degree of mind control "official" GW has over the players.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I would love to see the discussion if they would made them, "But "brand x, is 10 times cheaper, Yeah but it is not GW, even do the have moving wheels and the doors open, they are not the Porsche of Die Casting"

There was a discussion a while back about 'display' items.
I'd be unlikely to buy die cast models as they are too similar to the actual miniatures themselves. If I want to display a warhound or thunderhawk then I'll get an epic scale one or the actual warhound.
I could see value in props/1:1 replica weapons/armour either as kits or prepainted. I would also like to see more large scale kits/busts/display pieces of existing models. It'd be a nice change of pace to do one of those every now and then, especially if it fell in at around baneblade sizing /price point.

Everyone: No.

Wasn't there a 20 cm big spacemarine or something expressly for painting up nicely?

Not seen busts. I have seen the Sideshow figurines if that's what you were thinking of?

There have been a few bits here and there but I'd like to see more.

@Alex:
Yeah, precisely that one. I think I've seen a similar-sized Blood Angel one too somewhere somewhen, but no idea anymore what it was.

If they did die cast models of 40K vehicles the size of Match Box cars, and kept them under $5 I would probably buy them all, for reasons...
