Most players accept Forgeworld units as part of the regular game these days.
Still, before you play it make sure your opponent is familiar with its statline and rules.
XV9's have some really cool weaponry, but are over 100 points per model with just about anything other than burst cannons. Point for Point XV8's are actually more efficient. Your opponents should realize this and then have no problems vs'ing them.

I'd say Barracudas and Tetras are better uses for your FA slots, but XV9s have their appeal. The best use for them is stock with the cheapest support system

Xv9s are usually considered over costed for what they do. iirc
Most people that already know what they do wont really care. new people might complain.

id use the tetra, but that forgeworld model is god awful.
I suppose I could try to customize a piranha, and xv9 looks great for the model, but the barracuda I could get behind i guess.
Thanks again :d

Best things to put in your Fast Attack slot in order
Y'Varah...i can't stress how awesome this Riptide really is
Tetras. Again just super awesome.
Marker drones to join your Commander with a drone controller. But to be honest i usually take a crisis unit and use the drones from there to save on the FA slots.
Worst things (We dont even include Vespid here...poor poor Vespid)
Path Finders. By far the worst source of marker lights in the codex and a general hindrance, i don't think i have used them since our 6th codex came out and I discovered marker drones and tetras.

I can attest to the Y'varas awesome power. Thing seriously messes up vehicles and I recommend all Tau players that want some serious anti-tank firepower get one. It can just handle stuff so much better than teams of fusion blasters.
Assuming your cautious not to lose it. For something like an IK its going to need some support from fusion blaster teams.

I agree, it will take out any non super heavy reliably but due the the mechanics of the Ion Discharge Cannon invuns and cover saves can be quite effective at stopping its shots/emp so for knights/larger super heavies it will need some support but will get the job done. I tend to back mine up with a R'varna Riptide as although their weapons are very different they can hit similar targets with good effectiveness, especially when combined.
It should also be noted that its probably the best anti infantry unit in the Tau arsenal with its 2 shot AP 2 flamer on overcharge (gets hot) if you make it BS6 though (native BS4 unlike other riptides!) this really isnt an issue and you can flame away with impunity.
the only thing i would say is that Stims and EWO are mandatory to keep him alive as he will always be in very close quarters to the enemy.
