Off-topic, but what are the odds we get a MT re-release a la Imperial Knights? It'd be nice to see them give MT the treatment they deserve, i.e. an actual meaty codex.

So paying almost full price for hard cover for a soft cover, you are ok with? Soft cover is what 5 bucks cheaper from what I read.

That's really really hard to guess at the moment. GW has finished updating the last 5th edition book (Necrons), and is now updating the 6th ed ones in no particular order (probably profit related decisions though).

It looks like they are updating all books to 7th.

Not printing the Astra Militarum and MT books in hardcover is actually a good hint that Games Workshop plans to replace them sooner than later. See Tau and Farsight Enclave. They are softcover already and will be updated next after Dark Angels, WFB 9th and a Ravenguard vs Tau campaign starter set according to one of the best rumor sources (Lords of War Gaming).

As Militarum Tempestus is a Codex and not a supplement, and looking at the current direction of multiple books per faction (like Eldar) and also that the MT book was the first to be using the new 7th ed design (even before 7th was actually out), there is a good chance they will update it. The Imperium with its many sub-factions is perfect for these new Mini-Codex releases.

But it is also possible they will remove the MT book entirely and add some of its content to the next Astra Militarum book - like MT specific formations or a Decurion-like detachment.

It would be quite a surprise though if this would still happen in 2015. Spring or Summer 2016 is more likely. A 2 year-circle looks to get the new norm for Codex releases.

Price is always a tuff topic when talking GW. We could also talked about Sisters of battle not getting a hard or soft book?

Sounds legit. I think our little plastic soldiers are still going to die in droves for a while, trying to match the better and better xenos codexes.

I feel like GW is not really interested in Imperial Guard as they had constantly downsized the importance of non-cadian/non-catachan regiments and reduced originality. Maybe IG does not draw as much attention as Eldars or SM, idk.

Let's hope they will release a big IG codex with many sub-factions like Steel Legion, Mordia or (why not) a plastic DKoK range. Unlikely but that would be awesome.

Oh. My store got a softcover AM in, I think; I wasn't paying much attention, but I was wondering wtf it was.

Generally speaking, I am not really a fan of hardcover for game books. It doesn't make much sense for people who must transport them. The hardcovers make more sense for limited edition.

In my case, I normally just keep them at home, and 99% of the time, most of them are on the shelf anyhow, so it's ok and it looks pretty, but it doesn't make much game sense at all.

Considering we've yet to see an edition (since like, what, 3rd?) that has had EVERY codex updated to the new rules, I have my doubts we'll see a complete run of 7th codexes.

And it's not like the 7th ed codexes are all uniform either - seems like everything after Necrons is more like 7.5...
