Hi everyone Mulusy here
I recently decided to start 40k. I wanted to play a mono god list due to the fact that they are now merging csm and demons together sooner or later. I either wanted to play nurgle with lots of pleague marines and tarpits or noise marines with with lots f blastmasters and fast gak. Here is the question. What would be the pros and cons of either army and what should i expect from the upcoming nurgle and slanesh demonkin. I know it wont be today but at the end of 2016 I am sure all gods are split.

Plague Marines advantages:
-Tougher
-Built in FNP
-Access to special weapons
Noise Marines advantages:
-High Initiative
-Access to Ignores Cover
-Cheaper base cost
Toughness is more valuable than high Initiative, for the sole reason that Initiative never comes into play in the shooting phase. Plague Marines are therefore probably a bit better, but Noise Marines are good, too.
If these are the options your looking at, I'd pick which one you'd have a funner time modeling and paiting.
No idea about the future. I've even heard rumors that Slanesh might be going away in the future, but I've no idea whether its credible.

Nurgle, since you can't even spell Slaanesh. A god based on hubris and his/her own beautiful glory surely wouldn't be impressed if you can't even spell his/her name!

Nurgle, as much as it pains me to say. Nurgle is just more competitive in both marines and daemons, fantasy and 40k.

Gamewise, Nurgle is the best god in just about every way.
Unless you play nurgle, you're basicly boned if you want to be competitive.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness. |

Assuming GW is somehow magically becoming consistent in its approach and will make a Slaanesh or Nurgle Daemonkin, just because they made a Khorne one, seems like a first step into despair.
They might be years, even decades away (Slaanesh especially). They might change their design philosophy again (as they do ever 3-6 months or so). Etc...
Plan your army on what exists, not on what is rumoured to maybe come out at some point (doubly so with everything Chaos).

i run 6 squads of noise marines...
i love them but their high init is useless since they are Salvo.
i play mono slaanesh, its fun not not competitive. you can win with them but its very difficult.
so my advice though is to play whichever one you think is the coolest.

I like Slaanesh daemons better than Nurgle Daemons. They're faster and a lot better looking (I love those exalted chariots). However, Nurgle CSM is so much better than Slaanesh CSM. +1 T is always useful.

All fear the +2 jinking daemon prince of nurgle. I think the CSM one with a spell familiar is maybe the best magic unit in the game. Make sure you ask your opponent what they have with ignores cover!
Ya Slaanesh daemons are fast and effective, but if you want to ally are bring a CAD of daemons, nurglings are super cheap (45pts) and awesome at getting into cover and objective camping, and i cant tell you how long FNP loci'd plaguebearers seem to live.

I wouldn't count on Slaanesh or Nurgle Daemonkin books coming out any time soon or even at all. You never know with GW. Also we have no idea how they will be presented either so can't tell you how to build an army today that would work with either of those books in the future if they ever come out.
Just build your forced based on the CSM codex and the CD codecies using one or the other as an allied contingent and go. Slaanesh is fast and Nurgle is resilient/tough. Nurgle is the most competitive, but both can make nicely modeled armies.
I have armies of all 4 chaos powers from CSM codex and CD codex, and like them all for different reasons. Thanks to the group I play with regularly I don't have to play nurgle to be successful in games because most of our armies are story/fluff driving and not WAAC type lists.

Which would you prefer to paint? Most people will tell you Nurgle is easier, and if you want to do a quick and easy paint job you can do so with them more easily than any other god. But if you're an avid painter, both gods' armies can be very rewarding to paint.
Nurgle will be fleshy, earthy and diseased tones, Slaanesh can be anything from pinks and purples mixed with black to technicolored insanity that makes you scrape out your tonsils with a crow's talon.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I would go with Slaanesh just because noise marines are just more fun to use than plaguuuuuuuue marines, also, warp talons of Slaanesh are really good vs. marines.
