What are the FW Tau Remora stealth drones primarily used for?
And are they any good at doing it?

They have guns and markerlights, their use is obvious. Use their markerlights to make them BS 4-5, shoot their seeker missiles at a vehicle target (which, BTW, is a decent AA option). Alternatively, shoot a weaker target with their BCs and save the markerlight hits for another unit since the TL guns don't benefit much from markerlights. On defense, take advantage of their small bases to hide behind cover and get a save (boosted by their cover bonus) without jinking.

Only if they are hovering and not zooming.

I've never used them but their job is really to get rid of any fliers and then provide markerlight and fire support that is a pain in the ass for the enemy to get rid of. Plus you get a 5+ save against those Eldar weapons that ignore jinking so they can suck it too.

Really what makes them excellent is that they can come on and fly. get deep in enemy territory, and at the first sign of a threat drop from the sky out of sight of most things and getting sick cover saves against things that can see them. Unless your opponent brings a large amount of anti air I would consider them quite possibly the best harassment unit in the game in terms of survivability and hard hits they can dish out with 2 seeker missiles a piece.

Why wouldn't they get a cover save when zooming? Nothing in the rules says that you ignore LOS or cover when shooting at a zooming flyer. If the Remora is behind cover (easy to do on its short base) it will have a cover save.

Yep. Personally i like to nuke my opponents FMC or flyer by marking and shooting ALL THE Missiles. sort of like the skyray. though at least you can ignore cover and wreck most guard level things after with the BC.

They have pretty decent shooting and can get very good cover saves if they jink. They're fast attack, which is usually a free slot for Tau. The models are also physically very small for a flyer, so you can hide them behind terrain.

The burst cannons are fairly potent against AV10 fliers, and the seeker missiles are potent against tougher flyers. Their marker lights have skyfire, so you can place a few tokens on an enemy flyer and then spend them to buff the shooting of missilesides.

I just looked it up and I don't know why I thought they didn't.

Wow though then they are even better than I thought.
