I'm a new player, been collecting Tau for a couple of months, got a few games under my belt (not won any yet though) and looking at how to expand my forces.
My current army is in the spoiler tag at the bottom of this post but as a goal for the future I'm thinking about this -
Why run a suit heavy army with Tau Empire? FE is much better (imo) for suit heavy armies. I run a suit heavy FE detachment and I've had quite a bit of success with it.
Honestly, I wouldn't go with Pathfinders for ML support unless you have no other option. Look into getting some Tetras from FW (or proxy them from Piranhas) or use a Mark'o with a Drone Squadron.
As for your Cadre Fireblade: Ethereal > Fireblade in my experience, but it's all your preference.
Tau fliers are widely accepted as point sinks and you could use the points much better elsewhere (as in more suits )
Also, with the Hammerhead, I'd most definitely drop that in favor of a Sky Ray. 9 time out of 10, the Sky Ray trumps the Hammerhead.
Your FW, Crisis Team, and Riptide all look fine to me. I haven't used Stealth Teams much myself, but if they work for you, cool.
Why not make this a Farsight Enclaves CAD + Tau Empires AD?
The only thing you'd need is a Farsight Enclaves HQ, save 10 pts from the Bodyguard team making the Crisis, and all of your Crisis would be troops! The only thing it needs is a Cadre Fireblade to join one uint of Firewarriors and you have it.
That'd be my first suggestion.
Dual Fusion and a Plasma Rifle is wasted on a Commander, just two weapons will suffice.
Crisis Bodygaurds are very expensive.
Early Warning Override is almost a must have on an Ion Acclerator Riptide. Its worth it just to make your opponent think you might interecept one of his units.
Tripple dual Fusion suits isn't really worth it unless you have Target locks in there.
Gun drones are great Ablative wounds, Suits will die quickly if left in the open.
Unfortunatly the Heavy Rail Rifle is a really bad weapon, the HYMP is way better for cost. Early Warning Override is also very powerful on them as they are TwinLinked they make really good Intercept AA.
