Me and my roommate have been browsing 30k for some time now and have recently decided to get into it as it mostly because the models are cool and the fluff behind the heresy has always been amazing. I've decided to pick up the Ultramarines because one Guilliman's model is amazing, and two the only marine armies I have played in 40k are traitor armies (Khorne World Eaters and Death Guard) So I thought I'd give the loyalists a try. Only problem is, 30k seems VERY flexible at first glance and it seems like you can do a ton of stuff with it that can kind of be overwhelming but cool at the same time. I'd also like to aim at being able to use (most) of this army as a Codex: Space Marine army to cover both bases. I know somethings would have to change but the bulk of it I think could remain the same. My question is what would be fluffy/good for 30k Ultramarines? I'm torn on spamming troops because they seem great for 30k but that style I think would fit more Death Guard. I'm not very knowledgeable on different 30k vehicles and what all their equipment/weapons can do (to some extent). I'm still also kind of waiting for their special unit(s) to be released to see if those would be good. So in short my question is, if you were to build a good, fluffy, Ultramarines army for 30k, what would you take? Any feedback/ideas would be great!

Literally any army type would be fluffy for them. Every legion had the capacity to fight any type of battle. The UM in particular, they had 250,000 legionnaires, so you name it, they could field it. Siege force, void warfare, mass infantry, mass tank... Each legion was kind of known for a type of war but at the same time each legion would have fought every type of war. They even fielded Destroyers who I'd have thought might have been a bit much for the Ultramarines; there's a picture of an UM Destroyer in Tempest.
