Hello,

Does a Royal court can be taken as a unique formation in a CAD?

it is my understanding that it is not a formation since in the necron codex there is not a single page dedicated to it and No command benefit (even if it says none)

You can't take formations 'in a CAD'. A CAD is it's own detachment while formations are their own detachments.

A battle-forged army can consist of any number of detachments.

So a battle-forged army could have a CAD and a Formation as 2 detachments.

As for whether or not the Royal Court is a formation on it's own, I'm not sure. You'll have to check the codex.

Don't have my codex on hand but IIRC the Royal Court can only be taken if you have taken a Reclamation Legion. So your forces would be:

CAD
Reclamation Legion
Royal Court

At that point you might as well take a CAD and the Decurian

Incorrect. The formations presented in the Reclamation Legion Detachment can be taken as standalone formations in their own right. They're not limited to only being used as a part of the Reclamation Legion.

To quickly tack on a question here, I'm curious about the requirements for the Rec Legion and the Royal Court. Does the Royal Court have to take its own separate overlord or does the overlord from the Rec Legion count as the necessary choice for the Royal Court? I am leaning towards the former, but I wanted to confirm.

A model can only be a part of a single detachment/formation. A single Overlord could not fill the compulsory slots in both a Reclamation Legion and a Royal Court.

Except when its a detachment made up of formations, which seems to be the new thing. But even then no model may be a member of two different formations, so Ghaz is still correct in saying the Overlord can't be in both the Royal Court and the Reclamation Legion.
