I spent a few min trying to find (using Search...) some information what programs people are using.
I want something for IOS, dont care about PC/Mac.

Basically people appears to be torn between Battlescribe (BS) and Quatermaster (QM), but i cant figure out why one
program is better then the other. I have downloaded the free version of BS and it seems to do the trick. I have however
not tried QM since there isnt a trial or a free version.

I would like to ask for people advise when it comes to these two programs and if you do have a hint of another one, i
would be more then happy

Battlescribe is a safe bet. Couldn't get my head around QM though. Seems very clunky.

Armybuilder is the best by far that I've used. It's worth every penny. For a huge tabletop gamer it was worth it even back when you had to subscribe for monthly payments to keep the application updated. Now that it's only a one-time buy it's definitely worth it.

It has some issues, it's not the most intuitive, and I'm still not really a fan of how they've implemented detachments, but overall it's fantastic. I use Windows, but I'm pretty sure they have an iOS version?

Each has its issues. There's no singularly perfect one.

* Army Builder has the best interface and is the most user friendly (except when it comes to detachments.) But the community that codes the lists have never, in the 8 years I've been using it, put out a perfect, bug free list. And the AB coders will also make arbitrary decisions on how things work in lieu of an FAQ, one time even leading to them removing everything FW related that didn't have a 6th edition update during the edition switch...and for something like 6 months after. Also, every once in a blue moon Lone Wolf will require that coders code in their new version of the program, requiring you to buy the program again to stay current. I've had to buy it three times in my life and it has never been 100% reliable.

* Battlescribe has the best coders, and is easily the most reliable. Their lists update within days - sometimes even hours - of a codexes release. They fix bugs quickly rather than in monthly patches, and are far more accessible to the community. But the interface is a bit weak, and isn't as malleable and easy to use as AB. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it, it is a very solid program.

Battlescribe is a life saver. I used to only pen-and-paper it, but when you already kinda know the rules Battlescribe is quick and easy.

Battlescribe is amazing, pen and paper is ok if you're just doing like 1k with your friends. I would say if you're at a tournament or something using BS is courteous for your opponent and vice versa you know the point values are legit.

I voted Battlescribe because I wanted to send some props that way.

But actually, almost all my lists are made in Excel spreadsheets (and I have hundreds... ). It allows me to better index and cross-reference, add notes, and keep track of my win/losses against other types of lists and players.

Good Old Pen and Paper for me.

I bought a nice leather-bound book to write everything down in so I dont have to leaf through my codexes, Each entry has Wargear, profiles, reminders of special rules and its tabulated so I can turn to troops for a SM, then look up my Inquisitor or Guardmen allies in a pinch.

In the back I've even written down my preferred 2-5 army lists so I don't have to calculate everything before a game and can just follow my own specs

I have Battlescribe and Quartermaster. Battlescribe is easier the use, but sometimes the update lag far behind the release (ie, the IK update and new CM). Quartermaster is more up to date, and customizable, but hard to use. Pen and paper has the same failure rate as BS and QM (operator error), and access to your books (or your e-books).

At the moment, I use BS when I can, QM when I can't, and the old PnP when neither is working out.

I usually use Army Builder or Battle Scribe.

Battle Scribe seems a bit more friendlier in some ways not so much in others. I have found myself using a lot more than Army Builder because it seems to get updates faster.

I used to use AB but gave up when things slowed down a lot with it.
BS is my go to nowadays.

I used Armybuilder for years, but quit during the transition to 6th edition. It just took too long to get updates when a new codex rolled out, so I felt like I ended up using pen and paper half the time.

I use Battlescribe nowadays and I'm very happy with it. The dropbox sync is very useful - I usually edit on my computer, and look up lists on my phone. It's also a pretty decent X-Wing squadbuilder, though it's support for other game systems is spotty at best.

I've purchased the Battlescribe app for both my phone and my computer. Sure I can, and have, used it for free - but these guys have poured so much love into this thing that they deserve my money.

I still do pen & paper on occasion, though in that situation it's more like "codex and excel sheet". But with Battlescribe I can put together lists while waiting in the car, or can quickly modify a list when inspiration strikes me!

I gladly paid for the premium version of Battle Scribe. These guys put a lot of effort into making a very usable application, and are very responsive to feedback from the comunity.

Question for those who’ve purchased BS: Did you buy a copy for both your desktop and your phone? And were there any issues opening files between them? The $5 app store version seems reasonably priced, but they are asking $12 for the desktop, which is a little much for the features added IMHO. And getting both seems overpriced and overkill.

mac/iphone by the way.

I bought both purely to give them money. I haven't yet used the additional features. If you're only comfortable paying the $5, don't feel bad - I'm sure they're happy for every purchase someone makes!

I bought both (Android/PC), and have no issues with compatibility between them. I use dropbox to keep the data and lists synced between them. The dice tool is super useful.
