Good Evening everybody!!!

I have been trying to do camo decall, but so far I have had minimum success. From what I can see from tutorials and have read, the best way to do it is with and airbrush.
Does anyone know of somewhere I can purchase an airbrush with a compressor for a reasonable price?

Is there a specific type of paint that has to be used with the airbrush?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

I picked up an airbrush kit from Amazon with three brushes and a compressor for under a hundred bucks.

if you are looking for a cheaper end airbrush and compressor (starter kit) for under $100. Check out Harbor Freight.

Welcome to the world of airbrushing!

FIRST : DO A SEARCH.

This question comes up LITERALLY every few weeks - and a lot of people have put a lot of info up about it.

One piece of advice: Do not confuse a "high end" airbrush with "high quality". One mistake a lot of painters make is buying a very fine precision brush as a starter brush - and becoming very frustrated with them, as a high end brush can be incredibly unforgiving to learn on.

I am NOT saying get a cheap brush - as you want quality components made to a high standard, I am saying do not feel like you want the "best" brush out there.

Now, I would suggest reading the forums, and learning as much as you can - there are a lot of terms and factors in using an airbrush - and the incredible delicate balance of learning to mix pressure, paint viscosity, needle size/use and brush distance.
It is a process that takes time to master.

However - you can start getting good basic results right away!

I would suggest getting a badger patriot 105 - it is an amazing starter airbrush, and has a gravity feed (this is good). This brush is VERY forgiving on learning to use, and can still give great results (I have several brushes - including some very high precision instruments - but the 105 is still my 'go to' brush for most work).

I can say, that even the harbor freight starter airbrush is decent to learn on, and the compressor is decent enough to use for years.

Best of luck, and read as much as possible.

Underground wargames usually do airbrush/compressor kitss, but have none listed (I'd contact them and ask about it) -> http://www.undergroundwargames.com.au/

The combat company also does, and has some cheap ones in stock, again it would be best to contact them ->

Airbrush mega store is where I got mine, great guys -> http://www.airbrushmegastore.com/

I got an Iwata HP-CS, brilliant brush - I love it. Great for novices, but also can do some really good work.

I also got an Iwata compressor, which was a waste from what I can tell - it is great, but so are the dirt cheap compressors you can buy.

I found this guy on eBay the other week:

I have zero experience with airbrushes and was looking into getting one myself. As Dave said though, you likely want to stay away from cheap. I've read half decent reviews for this thing but considering its more than reasonable price, it's likely a nightmare. I only brought it up because maybe you want to take that risk and give it a shot.

Also, unrelated to the topic, I haven't gone over the forum rules but eBay links tend to be frowned upon. At least on forums I've been on. Not advertising! Just trying to make a point! haha

Let me recommend the Badger Patriot 105 as well. You can even get replacement needle kits to reduce the size of the .5mm needle it comes with down to something like .3mm. It is one of the best workhorse airbrushes out there.

For a compressor, I use the Airbrush Depot TC-20T I picked up off Amazon, and it works well. And it is not very expensive.

Let me also recommend that if you decide to pick up an airbrush and compressor, to get a decent hose, make sure you have the proper fittings and connectors, and I would seriously recommend to pick up a quick disconnect kit and inline moisture trap. They will add a few extra dollars to the purchase, but the good hose, quick disconnects, and moisture trap will make your life a lot less of a hassle when working with airbrushes.
