so i did play necrons in the 6th edition but never collected a lot and now 7th edition is out I will pick it up I have looked at a lot of videos and im probably gonna get Trazyn the infinite, I will most likely get the reclaimation bundle. but here is what I need help with is what I am doing is the right thing? I want to get a character HQ and from what I have seen trazyn seems good what do you guys think about going for Trazyn? I am going for the reclaimation bundle for the 4+ RP. Also what other units should I include also what about the tesseract vault is it good?

many thanks Dakka

The problem with Trazyn is that his ability requires you to have several other characters. This was less of a problem in the previous books, but now with Crypteks being ICs, more expensive, taking up an HQ slot and being generally useless in ever-living units, it's much harder to take advantage of.

Maybe large units of Warriors led by Lords with resurrection orbs?

Trazyn is currently regarded as the worst HQ in the Necron codex.
Consider reading up on some of the others (particularly Orikan and Zahndrekh)

Trazyn is fun but honestly not worth the points and his ability isn't very useful considering how expensive it would be to get all of the IC's. Tess-Vault isn't to bad, little expensive (Both money and points) but super charging regular C'Tan powers is amusing to say the least. I'd also point to getting Flayed Ones (Due to the fact that a 10 man squad can have up to 50 attacks on the charge with shred) or Deathmarks for anti-whatever-the-hell-needs-dying-right-now.

I don't so much as push my luck as I shove it over a cliff set above a valley of jagged rocks. Might explain why the Mrs isn't that happy with me most days.

If you want a character HQ, Orikan is the strongest right now, and fun to play, As a Cryptek character he's tricky to get into a Decurion (though frankly I'd tend towards calling that another plus. I have not lost a single game since the codex update, and I only used a Decurion once to test it out. Encouragement to make your list generic and overpowered at the same time isn't in the same ballpark as fun)

Tesseract Vault is kinda poor, you're better off just taking it in it's Obelisk configuration.

As for what to take? A solid gunline backed by various assault units. We're good at both now, excel at durability so tend to keep more of our toys on the table than an opponent almost no matter what we take, and a varied list will be more tactically flexible and more fun to play.

I find I perform best with a solid gunline of 40-50 gauss weapons, backed with a couple of pricey, attention grabbing assault units.

Oh, and don't use Night Scythes. Deploying a unit by them sounds good superficially, but it's a trap. You arrive late, can't charge, and would have been better off using the Veil of Darkness relic to pop over and get in people's faces for both getting in to position and psychological warfare benefits. Deploying a shooting unit? Probably would have been better having them on the board and contributing from the start. If you feel like taking an empty Night Scythe for the shooting, you're probably better off just upgrading it to a Doom Scythe.
