The thread title says it all. Greetings from KranfordTButcher to all present!

Well, I suppose I should start by saying I found out about this place from my brother a looooooooong time ago. I don't even know if he was registered. Our interest Warhammer 40K got started waaaaay back around the mid-90's, with a fun little gem of a game called Final Liberation. We tried a demo of it and were hooked immediately. We slowly got more and more into the setting, further aided when we got a four-game bundle that included the full versions of Final Liberation and Chaos Gate. And then, we discovered tabletop...

Well, around 1999-2000, we made the jump to tabletop, starting with a 3rd edition starter set. You know, the one with space marines, dark eldar, and a landspeeder? Well, my middle brother went the space marines route, and was able to fashion a small devastator squad out of the marines that came with the set, as well as a more general-purpose squad. My elder brother, meanwhile, went with the Dark Eldar. We never got around to actually getting any raiders for them though, and we have some scourges still put away somewhere, waiting to be painted and put together.

As for me? Well I went the route of the Chaos Space Marines. If I actually bothered to get the entire group painted and put together, it would actually be pretty decent, albeit with practically no vehicles and very very lacking in mobility. We stopped buying tabletop after buying a necron and ork battleforce. We've even got a small eldar army tucked away in the basement, but I'm starting to ramble.

We stopped buying models and such though after realizing that, more or less, it was neutering our wallets. None of us regret that decision, to be honest. My interest in 40K perked back up with the arrival of Dawn of War and the Space Marine game, and solidified when a few folks and I started talking 40K tabletop rules again. I also caught sight of the occasional game at the hobby store I frequent, though I'm admittedly behind the times and don't know diddly about the current editions or army lists. We stopped keeping our codex and rulebooks current after 4th edition, but I still enjoy watching or reading about an occasional battle.

And it is thus that I find myself here. Now, the one question I have is this: suppose I wanted to share some of the crazier things we did, like an Imperial Dirty Dozen, meant to take on entire armies, would that involve a new thread in the 40K discussion? I'm sure the answer is an obvious one, but I just wanted to make sure before I start talking about them.

EDIT- Oh, and a corollary to the question above. Which section of the 40K area would something like that fall into? General discussion, army lists? I just don't want to put these silly creations of mine in the wrong forum.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
