so I've recently invested into a Judicator Battalion for my Necrons and as much as I like them and the idea behind the formationIm not really feeling that they're great, so I was wondering how the rest of you like to use them, and how you include them in your lists effectively.

Currently I have the Barebones for the formation, so 1 Stalker, 2 Five man units with Rods of the Covenant, and mostly use them for objective hopping and Elite killers, the reason I have so few is the cost of adding more bodies means more points and more money. :(

So thats basically it, am I simply using them wrong or do I need to change anything with the way I use them? Are there any other Formations that fit their role better?

The destroyer cult has been doing well with killing elites for me. It isn't AP2, but it does re-roll wounds and armorpen. Plus the heavy destroyers are nice to have!

I think they work best supporting warrior/immortal phalanx where they can jump over and shoot or assault something that has charged or is threatening the warriors while also buffing said nearby warriors/immortals BS.

I have thought about adding in a Destroyer Cult at some point, just so much money

But I suppose it'd be worth it, Heavy Destroyers seem nasty to say the least and all them re-rolls are just harsh

What loadout do you guys prefer?
I can see the appeal of the +1 Attack for 2x CCW with the voidblade and particle caster, but at AP4, even for vehicle hunting the rod's seem superior?

The formation gives re-rolls, and the voidblades can make good use with the extra attack, but then imo its more the AP2 with the rod's that the crons lack?

Destroyer Cult get's BS5 Twin-Linked/Preferred Enemy/BS10 next to a Triarch Stalker which is tasty.

I usually run mine cheap as, Rods of Covenant for both units (my usual list has little AP2 in, so I give it to the Praetorians).

plus with them being their own formations I suppose I don't even need to bring troops or the such, a judicator battalion, a destroyer cult, then my orks alongside. Oooh that could be fun, huge amounts of re-rolling fire support, some AP2 CC units all supporting as many trukk boyz as I can get!

What do you run on the triarch? Keep the heat ray? Seems like a pretty potent weapon, although I do like the idea of a TL heavy gauss cannon.

The heat ray gives some dedicated anti armor which necrons lack.

TL HGC all the way. The Heat Ray will most likely never get a chance to fire in a game against a good opponent...the TL HGC pot-shotting from Round 1 at S9/AP2 from range is hand down the way to go, at least in my experience.

I've not run Judicator Batallion, and I don't recall if there's some synergy with the Praetorians that you need to keep the Stalker close to them for, but I don't think that's the case.

When I played Necrons I think I kept them cheap as so Heat Ray. HGC could put a shift in though with the formation benefits.
Formation benefits is partly why I run Rods over Void Blades - they only work in the Shooting Phase so might as well get the best bang for your buck.

Was pretty potent IMO.
